When you prepare food, do you use a cook book or do you make your own recipes?

I mostly don't, but take inspiration for flavour profiles, e. g. jerk seasoning. I've found chucking my ideas into chatgpt yields about a dozen ideas for additions, 1 or 2 of which may be useful. Flavour profile in hand, I just cook it the way I want it.

I rarely do desserts... they often require precise measurements and techniques.
