Dry kibble once as a teenager: super bland, dusty, like stale cereal without sugar. Canned dog food reminded me of very cheap, greasy pâté, with a metallic aftertaste.

I also know a chef who sampled high-end cat treats to understand aroma profiles for a “umami” dish idea. Safe, but definitely not something I’d snack on voluntarily.

My dad used to eat with the dog... given this was 60+ years ago it was probably better that some of the stuff considered fit for humans today
