School meals, which decade are we time travelling to?

I've built a time machine but unfortunately it only takes you to school canteens. Which decade shall I set the dials to and take you back for lunch?

40s. Spam mash and peas. Rice pudding

50s. Mince, peas, potatoes. Jam rolypoly

60s Hotpot and swede. Pudding and custard

70s Fish and chips. Jelly and ice cream

80s turkey twizzlers, potato faces and beans. Sponge cake and custard

90s pizza slice and chips. Artic roll

"Jelly and ice cream"? You'll be lucky! Semolina with a blob of jam! Sometimes spotted dick or similar. Cottage pie, and things like that. (1970's).

I accidentally voted 1970's, but 60's and 50's look better (and more like I remember).

There used to be a restaurant on the King's Road in Chelsea (upper class area in London) that amazingly did very similar food at a very reasonable price. Ooh, apple crumble and custard for dessert!

Nothing better than school pizza so 90s from this? And 80s good too best sponge cake is that one, and potato faces!
That sponge cake was pretty common in my primary. Not so much in highschool but to make up for it the pizza was much better than primary and the chocolate brownies were peak. Wish I could remember more about the food since most of it was good tbh.

We didn't have these British meals. Our American meals were usually burger and fries, chicken fingers, mac n cheese or pizza.

When I went to school the pizza sucked they taste like bowling alley pizzas But hopefully the 1990s pizzas were much better so I’ll try that decade at school

Actually you have. American pancakes are actually welsh pancakes. there's nonsense on google about them being dutch but those look nothing like American pancakes. The English version is just a crepe. Welsh pancakes are thousands of years old and are virtually the same as American ones
