How finely should I chop carrots and how many tomatoes for 15 cups of soup?

I forgot to divide my carrots centrefold middle section while preparing my cabbage soup this morning. Also is 5 large tomatoes enough for 15 cups of soup? My dad told me to use all the tomatoes, but I don’t think he realizes we have 10 and not 5 large tomatoes.

As for the carrots for your carrot soup you do not have to chop them finely because when you sauté them in olive oil they will soften anyway.
