2 moI don't know any sauce by the name "American sauce", but common sauces in the South which were invented in America would be BBQ Sauce, Comeback Sauce, Southern Sausage Gravy (Country Gravy), Cocktail Sauce for seafood, Wing Sauce (Buffalo Sauce), and there are plenty of Chinese/Asian fusion sauces invented in America for Americanized Chinese/Asian food, same would go for Tex-Mex and other Spanish sauces, and even some Americanize Italian foods. America has a lot of sauces. Some we borrow, many we have invented. I know that guy from the Beard Meats Food channel on YouTube seems to love Southern Sausage Gravy (Country Gravy) and always says he can't get it anywhere else in the world.

Looking at this sauce list, there's only 2 that ring a bell for me, cocktail sauce with shrimps and BBQ sauce

s 2 moyou'll never hear it that way...
America is huge and vast (and Texas even bigger than that) so you will also hear very different things from different American people
and that's great... same goes for "Mexican Sauce" there's isn't just one... lol
is there such a thing as French sauce?18 Reply- 2 mo
I'm already hearing it this way, but not from US people so far lol
A French sauce in France, highly improbable. However I wouldn't be surprised if there was a sauce named French sauce outside of France. - 2 mo
" The five French mother sauces are Bรฉchamel, Veloutรฉ, Espagnole, Hollandaise, and Tomate, serving as foundational sauces from which countless other sauces (daughter sauces) are derived. They are essential to French cuisine, with Bรฉchamel (milk-based), Veloutรฉ (stock-based), and Espagnole (brown stock-based) thickened with a roux, while Hollandaise is an egg yolk and butter emulsion, and Tomate is a tomato-based sauce "
- 2 mo
Lol, maybe i don't know enough about France after all, only 3 of these 5 clearly mean something to me, bรฉchamel and tomato. The one named after Spain tells me nothing, neither does the veloutรฉ one
- 2 mo
I DEFINITELY don't know all about America, not even the rest of Texas...
more than anything I really don't know, and can't understand why on earth do they try to pass yellow shredded cheese as "Mexican food" lmao... - 2 mo
Hehe, well it's probably harder to make sense of 50 different states than just 1, even though that one is also a collection of regions initially
- 2 mo
Lol, hairy... legged (?) women and liberal fruitcakes of Austin, that was unexpected !
I literally had no idea about Texas except... Flat ranches, that's how I pictured the entire Texas, but I knew I was wrong, I just didn't how much.
Good and quick story, that guy's vibe is very nice to hear๐๐ผ - 2 mo
lol... it happens
just the same as how a lot of people think Paris... is all of France...

13 Reply- 2 mo
Heinz, I've recently learned that it was a brand from the US, I always thought it was German instead lol, cause of the name most certainly
- 2 mo
Come on if Kraft gets Heinz, it's even more suspiciously German now lol

There is mayonnaise and LA mayonnaise though, if you ate British ones I know what the problem is: Lemon, or vinegar or whatever they stuffed in their mayonnaise !

2 moI think what you are almost describing is a thousand island dressing... ketchup and mayonnaise plus your choice of botanicals?
13 Reply- 2 mo
Honestly, I don't remember what this so called American sauce is supposed to go with, could be french fries? ๐
Thousand island uhhh wait, oh, mayo-ketchup-relish, what could I use that with, carrots to dip in? - 2 mo
Meh... you know Americans... they'll add sugary, fatty, salty stuff to anything that doesn't move.
- 2 mo
And corn.
Don't forget corn !
2 moNever heard that term before but I would think ranch or ketchup I guess
16 Reply- 2 mo
BBQ sauce makes more sense now that I think about it though
- 2 mo
What is ranch, a sauce?
- 2 mo
It's salad dressing more than a sauce but there aren't many of those that are American
- 2 mo
Oh for salads okay, what's in that dressing?
- 2 mo
Mayo, sour cream and buttermilk mostly
- 2 mo
All right, thanks ๐๐ผ
Anonymous(36-45)2 moMost sauces are ethnic, they were brought to America from somewhere else.
13 Reply- 2 mo
I suppose so, so you're also saying that American sauce means nothing clear to you?
Opinion Owner2 moMaybe some kind of Texas barbecue sauce.

Okay, it would make sense from what I know
