What is your favorite whiskey and why do you like it?

Interesting question. I have both my sons with me for the first time in 3 years tonight. My oldest son sent me a bottle of 30 year old Scotch for my birthday a few weeks ago. And he brought with him a bottle of 10 year old Talisker Scotch he picked up in Scotland a year ago. This particular bottle is not not distributed outside Scotland. I also have on hand a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon, a non pretentious workhorse whiskey from the USA. And lastly a homemade Bourbon I brewed myself and made waaaay to damned strong (spices not alcohol). We're going to do a 4 way tasting tonight.

I used to drink scotch, Johnny Walker Black to be specific, but I gave that up years ago. Rum and coke, and moscow mules (vodka) are mostly what I drink now.

I generally drink Chivas; I enjoy its taste and aroma. I drink it neat, with ice. I’ve tried other whiskies too, but Chivas suits my palate best.

Jack Daniel's. I don't drink alcohol, though. I just like how the bottle looks.

For a mixer it's Jameson. Decent taste and being triple distilled helps alleviate hangovers.
