An essential oil diffuser that uses a flame to warm the oil.
or
Incense. Either incense sticks or pieces of actual incense on a charcoal burner inside a diffuser.
My wife doesn't like sprays, wall diffusers or even scented candles because they contain toxic chemicals.
Fresh flowers are nice for a small room or something, but there's no way the whole house/apartment will smell like flowers unless you do something extreme. Fake fresheners are harmful to your breathing and to the environment, so... I pass on both. Perhaps a nice bouquet by the entrance to cheer guests up as they enter.
I like fresh basil in the kitchen/dining area. It's a nice earthy smell. But the rest of the place just smells clean -- I use an actual vinegar-lemon-clove mix to clean surfaces, windows, etc. The only chemical product I use is for the floors. Never figured out how to avoid that oil-based cleaner.
At home in the summer I sometimes will burn a candle. Like Abby notes, at school that is frowned upon just like it is where she goes. They don't want us absent minded college kiddies to light one and forget and leave for class.
I might have to get some of those plug in ones. I don't know why I haven't thought of that. Our dorm room never smells bad. We aren't messy or lazy with laundry. Mostly, it smells like clean clothes.
definitely food cooking...
bakery is the best...
I wanted to get the bread so badly yesterday!! Fresh out of the oven. I am off crab. So just smelling it was so satisfying
my aunt used to bake a whole lot... she had a bakery as well, for some time
one of my best core memories in life... lol
I always go for woody and herbal scents at home, especially sandalwood, cedar, and a bit of rosemary or sage 🌿
They feel warm and grounding, like walking into a cozy trattoria in Italy or a tiny izakaya in Japan, where the air carries gentle smoke and herbs. These fragrances never feel overwhelming and they pair beautifully with the smell of food cooking in the kitchen.

I like the smell of wild meadow at sunny day late Mai
If I need a fragrance to clean up the air I use Nag Champa incense or a beach clean fragrance burner that steriizes the air. Vinegar and water cleans the floor well or a little bleach.
Those plug in fragrances are mostly unnatural and cloying... Like you've dumped perfume all over your house... Like the people who wear so much cologne/perfume you smell them after they've left the elevator. Light is always best...
We have fragrance reed diffusers and candles in all the bathrooms, and both candles and fragrance oil burners around the house.
Occasionally our two lovely cleaning ladies will place fresh flowers in the hallway and lounge.
We burn incense and secented candles sometimes, but apart from that, we use no fragrance at all.
My wife likes to burn scented candles, which I dislike.
We use those wallflower things from Bath and Bodyworks in our dorm. They frown on candles.
Just spray some Glade or Glen20 or Lynx and bask in its baskness mmm ๐ ๐๐ป
We've had all of them at one point or another. I like fresh air blowing through the house when Canada or Washington isn't having a forest fire, that is.
Scented candles give your room a very nice and peaceful environment.
Definitely food being cooked. I guess it's nostalgic cos it reminds me of my happy childhood haha
Food being cooked.
Eh... that is... if it's good...
Not that this happens often but if i had to choose fresh flowers would be my choice...
Food Cooking cause it has a everlasting scent in the house.

marinara sause cooking I like how it makes me feel when I walk into the house.

Scented candles
Out of the pole options, fresh flowers would be my favorite. I actually like them best, but it would take a lot of flowers to fill a home.
Febreze.
