1) They Can Call You Stupid, It Doesn't Mean You Are

The only unintelligence in this world is going along with what everybody else says. If your opinion is different than everyone elses that doesn't make you stupid, it makes you mentally independant and creative. The only person who can tell you whether or not you're stupid is yourself and there are many different types of intelligence. One person may be a best-selling novelist who can't do math and another may be a scientist who can't write well, but both of them are intelligent. You just need to find your own intelligence.

2) Someone Calling You Ugly Doesn't Mean You Aren't Beautiful

People can call you whatever they want, but the only thing that really matters is how you feel about yourself. Everyone is beautiful to some people and unnattractive to others, because we're all unique. The only person you should worry about looking good for is yourself. If you love yourself, nobody else matters.

3) You Set Your Limits, Not Anyone Else

No matter what anybody tells you you can or cannot do, only you can decide what you can or cannot do. If you want to be a lawyer you can be a lawyer, if you want to be a movie star you can be a movie star, nobody elses expectations of you are valid, only your own.

4) Criticism Is A Jealous Man's Defense

Nobody would ever insut or put someone down for no reason, and more often than not, the reason someone hates you is because they want something you have. So if you're feeling hated or disliked, just remember that the people who dislike you probably want to be more like you, because you're awesome.

5) The Only Person Who Really Knows You Is Yourself

Everyone can have their opinion about you, but only you know yourself. You can act really moody but be someone who really cares about others or you can be really nice to people but really just hate everyone. Either way, nobody sees who you are, they see who you act like. Whether you are what you act like or not, that's up to you, and nobody else but yourself can tell you who you are on the inside.

Very well said.. all my opinions I give on here I try to think out before I post and I have posted many opinions on a wide range of subjects.. never do I go out to offend anyone and hope that honesty is one trait I have that I am liked for.. but I just try and be myself always in everything that I do.. I like this site very much and as most know I am not shy to say what I wear and even put some details on my profile.. it is just the kind of site that makes me feel good.. especially when I think I may have helped someone in even the smallest way.. we are all different and it is nice to see no one is getting bashed for a question they may have asked or for one of their opinions they may have gave.. have a great day

and another thing I always tell to myself and others
wherever you go, you will never be able to satisfy EVERYONE, they will always find a 'flaw' in you and keep talking about it (even if its not a flaw) so just don't bother about what people say, its a waste of time. Be happy with who you are, and try to improve yourself because YOU WANT to, not because the people around you want to.

People need to learn to separate Criticism from insult. Because they are not the same thing. And constructive criticism is good for you. Lol, I doubt your boss criticizing your work is out of jealousy. Or team mates giving eachother criticism on how they are fucking up. This is how we evolve as humans. We learn.

I agree with point number 4, but criticism is not the correct word for that. Criticism can be constructive and it would be unwise to ignore that just because it's criticism on you. From the get go of this take, we are led to believe that every single opinion you don't like is bad and therefore should be ignored, that the surrounding people are evil.

You seem to have built a wall, yourself.

Overall, I agree with what the take wants to achieve, but the approach is not convincing.

good mytake although I do think other people opinions can matter obviously I don't give the slightest shit what anyone on GAG says cos they are very meaningless in my life and I wouldn't take their advice but if like an employer told me I had a poor work ethic etc maybe I wouldn't be like "fuck you, you don't know me you must be jealous" also criticism isn't a jealous defense they're "putting you down" because they either think you can do something better or haven't done something well.
