As much as I want to agree with you, unfortunately, repeat questions is a fact of life. You've given the only logical solution... redirect them to someone else who asked the exact same question. It works, but it doesn't stop someone else tomorrow.
It's true that so many articles address the regular questions. I much prefer answering the ones with plenty of description and context - i.e. walls of text.
A tech site I know, when you write a new post, it immediately checks the title against other posts and lists upto 5 that are similar. Something like that could be done here.
I guess the reasons people ask repetitive answers is because it's a lot easier access and the question is newer so there could be new people answering it

I would rather they got rid of the 12 zillion scripts running on this site. It would be a lot cleaner and faster.
Agree with you on this, but if you're sick of answering lame/repeat questions, then don't. write one that you prefer.
A FAQ page would be great. Maybe a link to the FAQ page should be the first step a question asker takes before being able to post a question.
Sadly, the average 16 yo won't bother reading FAQs or articles, let alone use the search feature.
