The same thing applied when I went to my luncheon a few days ago. I couldn't wear a tank top and shorts with sandals, yet my co-worker female could wear a sleeveless top, short skirt above knees and wedges. All the skin I would have shown would have been even less than what she actually did show.

I do sympathize with *real* victims. I sympathized with my ex because in the end - HE was the victim, not her. Me being a woman, and a victim/survivor of sexual assault doesn't automatically earn every accuser my support.

Women are cheating the system and it's not my place to just go take a side because of what I'm being told.

I will listen and talk to them, but I can't just say "I believe you" when I simply don't know the whole story. I can't encourage lies if there are any to be told. I'm not this cold fish when someone is telling me what they went through, but I will never just assume their story is the truth. It could be likely, or it could be true - to an extent. But I'm not a judge or jury, and can only support in my own way until it comes out in the wash.

I get he was the victim and everything but my point is it's upsetting someone says "I have been raped" and your response is essentially "where's your proof?". What do you want, a police report, collected sperm sample and photographic evidence and bruising?

The right people in my circle "believed" me. I had my cans stacked as far as evidence went. So no, I don't have the same experience as someone who has been raped and basically had no proof. I had to look out for myself because I was primarily ashamed to go through everything at the time I had. I've said elsewhere in this thread: I don't mean it to come across as if I'm a cold fish and spy a woman up and down accusingly not believing her. My method is to listen to what she has to say, talk about her feelings - but outright believe? No. I don't really do that with any other people who tell something expecting to have me 'side' with them. As a skeptic, I'm all about information. As someone's friend, I can be more than that, but unless I too have some knowledge of what's happened, such as, "That's funny because I remember on Friday night he said he was looking for you and said he wanted to fuck you up." Otherwise, I can only just be supportive in other ways.

Sounds as though you would believe I invited it in, dressed wrong, acted wrong, etc.

I think we are going to have to politely say we have differing opinions with each other and leave it there. I fully understand punishing those who lie and benefit of the doubt but your attitude is suitable for a prison guard.
