Girl treats me differently when we're alone than when we're on a group?

There's this girl from college that I kind of like. Well, she'd look at me, I'd look at her (this went on for quite a while), and I finally approached her.
Now, when we're talking one on one she's super sweet and smiles at me and looks into my eyes and tells me stuff and asks me stuff and all, but if we're with others she... doesn't seem fond of... you know, interacting with me.
More information: sometimes she looks at me from faraway, but also ignores me when we're close.
What's going on here?

does she act differently to u as in.. flirty and teasty when you guys are in group and shy or silent when you both are alone? looks at you. but when you look at her she looks away? she is not sure of her feelings for u. if she do what i have mentioned

Sounds suspicious but I don't have enough evidence of that yet - as long as she doesn't pretend she doesn't know you or act like you guys aren't together - I think it's forgivable.

Maybe she's shy in front of the others and doesn't want to bring attention to the fact that she likes you? Might not want her friends to nag her about it?
