Are shy girls not able to express emotion in public?

In high school I would notice that the really loud and social girls would constantly be expressing their feelings and emotions. Some would cry in class because their boyfriend dumped them or something like that and the shy girls never did that. I'm friends with both kind so I know why they were crying. But the shy girls I knew one lost her dad and another one's boyfriend died and they never cried in class. I know they cried at home but why didn't they do it in public because they lost their loved ones and the loud girls would cry over less serious things. Are shy girls incapable of showing emotion or are they not very sensitive people I mean if I lost my dad I would cry in class but not if I got dumped!

I'm very shy but I'm also very sensitive lol so at home I cry a lot if I need to but when I'm out I don't like to make myself centre of attention so if I can avoid it I won't cry. My dad died on a Friday and I was back in school Monday and didn't cry. I think it's just because crying can be awkward in social situations and if you're shy you obviously find those situations awkward enough as it is. Shy people are often introverted and are able to deal with their emotions better by themselves because they spend more time alone. People who socialise a lot on the other hand, are perhaps more inclined to rely on others for emotional support so would therefore feel more able to express themselves pubically :)

Being shy is associated with emotion, so why would shy girls not be sensitive? There are so many things wrong with this kind of assumption. Yes, some shy people are uncomfortable with showing emotion, but that doesn't mean they're incapable. This is coming from a shy person. I don't like doing things like crying in public, so if I must, I'd go and hide. Tears are associated with weakness and I don't like for people to see me down. Everyone is different and everyone has different ways of handling things.

Some shy people are very, very reserved about expressing their emotions to just anyone, yes. They can be guarded, especially if they have been hurt/betrayed in the past they might not feel comfortable showing their feelings to people they don't feel 'safe' with, and that would include a bunch of kids in class. So really they are very sensitive, but they choose to hide that side of themselves.

Crying isn't always about being sad. It is just as often about getting attention and pity.

Some people don't want attention and pity from people they feel they have no emotional bond with and hence refrain from crying in their presence. Some people don't want to cry in public do to fear of judgement or humiliation. Sometimes your emotions are overwhelming that not crying is not an option. The reasons are many.

Shy people are just as able but are less likely.

Some shy people don't express emotions while others do, it all depends on the person their self
