Stick to your guns and don't let the horde/crowd mentality dictate your life choices. As one of my teachers in high school said, the only thing that is compulsory in life is death. Everything else is a choice. Each choice has a consequence (good/bad), but is still a choice.

On a side note, it gets worse if you eventually get married and choose to never have children. Relatives/friends will keep asking you when you're going to start a family.
