Teen girls getting slut shamed?

If you are a girl have you ever been slut shamed? and if you don't mind me asking, why? I've noticed that some girls get slut shamed for the dumbest reasons. My grandma once even slut shamed a waiter at a resturant becuse she had tattoos. So out of my own ciriousity i was wondering how many girls get slut shamed and why is this becoming more and more popular? girls are already insecure enough, so what's your take on slut shaming?

I've been called a slut, yes. Mostly by guys who don't even know me, and mainly on here, too. Usually they say it just to insult me, and not because they actually think I *act* like a "slut". Some guys have also told me that I look like a slut, which I don't really get? Like how can you look like a slut face-wise? Considering that I'm not exactly showing anything other than my face in my dp.

I'm going to answer the question you asked guys in the poll here :p I don't agree with slut-shaming, no, since the purpose of it is basically shaming a girl/woman for her sexuality, which is not right.
If a woman dresses inappropriately at a serious event (or at work, etc), you should call her tasteless. If a woman has sex with a lot of guys and is being irresponsible, you should call her irresponsible. If a woman is showing off her body online (or in real life) in ways you don't agree with, again, you can just call her tasteless. Calling any of these women a slut is just pointless, because again, you're attacking her sexuality in a way that is not necessary. She has the right to be as sexual as she wants. But, just because she has the right to be sexual, it doesn't mean she can't be judged for doing OTHER questionable things (such as being irresponsible, not dressing appropriately for an event, cheating/helping others cheat, etc). Judge her for the RIGHT thing and call her out on it in the RIGHT way. If she's a cheater, call her a cheater. If she dresses inappropriately, tell her it's inappropriate/tasteless/rude. There's NO need to call her a slut for any of the above mentioned examples, because again, she has the right to be sexual.

I am VERY modest and quiet for the most part. I don't like most clothes my size because stores assume that everyone my age and my size loves tight, torn, sparkly, bright stuff. I like t-shirts and plain jeans.

So now to my point. The one day I wear something other than a t-shirt (something with what I consider a low neckline and that was fairly tight) there were girls teasing me about being too sexy. Some called me a slut, some said I wasn't girly enough to wear it (I'm not girly at all, but neither was that shirt) and one of my friends said she was surprised to see me wear something like that. There's nothing surprising about it because I have plenty of shirts like that and I wear them fairly often. I don't understand what was so amazing about that shirt that day. I've worn it other times and no one said anything.

I have been slut shamed for being friends with only guys. All my teachers, and many of the girls in my high school treated me like I was messing around with my friends when I wasn't. Although I do think that messing around a lot is the wrong choice, I think there are good and bad ways to approach the issue. Speaking behind someone's back will only isolate them and make them feel like they need to act out even more. When I was a teenager I never listened to any of the advice I received so I think to a point, all you can do is be there for them and talk through their decisions so that they really think about what they're doing from every angle. Then hopefully they will decide for themselves what the best choice is.

Is slut shaming calling someone a slut? I don't get that. Why is it called "shaming"...

I've never slut shame because I don't care if a girl looks like that, and I think people who do care are just jealous and insecure about themselves. And also, I'm not a fucking prick so I don't "shame" people about anything. It's not my goddamn business.

I was called a slut by guys who I turned down and that was so stupid. I wasn't one so I didn't take it to heart. Then I was called. one by my family members, even though I know I am not one the fact that they said it to hurt me was so mean. I just don't care anymore if I know I am not one why worry. Still people need to stop being mean, I do admit that I called some girls that but its none of my business. by the way the guys called me a slut because I wore tight skinny jeans like sooo I have an ass top bad you can get any, so move on hater!

Not sure if u count this since I'm not a slut but this one girl was making a joke about my clothes ( I wear nice clothes and I dress up a lot).
Girl 1- I wonder were she gets her clothes
Girl 2- me too.
Girl 3- I bet she puts out.

But if ur a slut Idc if they shame u. Like u made a choice. And the same girl who said that. called me a slut and said I was copying her bc I have a pair of booties that are 2 inches tall.

I haven't been slut shamed but that's because I dress very modest. All my shorts I wear out in public stop at my knees, I don't show any cleavage, I don't wear thin leggings as pants or any other revealing or super tight clothing. Some people say I'm a prude but whatever that's what I feel comfortable wearing. Sadly it is hard to find modest clothing sometimes because that's "not in style" People should just wear what makes them feel comfortable. Don't put people down for "dressing like a slut" and don't put people down for "dressing like a prude" Worry about yourself and not what others are wearing.

People these days will call a girl a slut whore tramp, skank, or a hussy without knowing the first thing about her or her sex life if she even has one. All of this can be based on another girl simply just hating, the way a girl is dressed, the way she dances, where she lives, who she hangs out with, her body shape or the ultimate - not wanting to sleep with a guy. That's the only thing shameful is being accused for being something that you are not

I think most girls slut shame just for the sake of being vindictive. When I was on a volleyball team, we would all go back to the locker room and change from our jerseys. It was hot so most of us just put our team shirts on with our spandex athletic shorts. They're pretty short, and the shirts were pretty long, so it wasn't the most modest thing in the world, but it was nighttime, and we were all just heading out to our cars to go home. No big deal. Out of the blue, one of my teammates looked me up and down with a smirk and said "Wow. You look like such a slut." What really bugged me was that she (and half the rest of team) were wearing the same thing.

I classify a person as a slut by their behavior. Idrc what you wear and I won't judge you on it unless it's not appropriate (wearing booty shorts on a cold day, or to a church function or something) if you flirt with everybody you meet and bend over so they see your joins and such activities you're a slut and I will shame you for it bc you are leading these guys on

I've been slut shamed before, but I've honestly never cared what they were saying to me. I only lost all respect for that person and moved on. Ain't got no time for that! The thing is that I'm happy with who I've banged, so I can't be shamed out of it... I'm a "slut" and proud of it. :)

i agree with self shaming, meaning they should know right from wrong to feel the shame in the privacy of their own mind. i dont beleive or condone public humiliation or exploitation unless its against a person/organization of authority or someone/group who is/are more sophisticated abusing and taking advantage of someone and/or group.

if you can reason with the person, shaming should def be avoided just like you dont physically discipline a child once he can reason and become more developed
