Girls, a girl randomly messaged me on Facebook?

So a girl that i haven't spoken to in years messaged me on facebook today basically saying hi and asking how i was. i've not spoken to this girl in years and we had a history which i fucked up and have apologiesed for (i know it doesn't make it better) we talked for a bit but now the conversation has seemed to stop. i was going to say it was a bit out of the blue but haven't.

I was just wanting to know what this could mean thanks.

It sounds like she was just checking-in, perhaps as a way to signal that she is over whatever happened between you two.

Perhaps the conversation has stopped because she isn't interested in reigniting a close relationship, but rather was just wanting to clear the air and wish you well.

I spoke to her last night I said sorry again about what happened and she said it was fine. she said she was going through a rough time and she's been trying to connect with old friends as recent memories aren't attached to them. As she feels she's lost a group of friends.

She was probably thinking about you, might still have feelings for you, may think you're cute (r?). Essentially, she cares about you to some extent otherwise she wouldn't contact you.

she accidentally messaged the wrong person. she saw it was tou, thought 'omg no!' but was too polite to not respond to your comments. happens to me alll the time.
