They should see it as a compliment, it's not degrading it means they have the potential to be good wives to their husbands just like the men should be good husbands to their wives, and to be great mothers. Who will hopefully go on to raise fine children who will go out into the world and set a good example and maybe even make a difference, there is nothing degrading about that, and at the end of the day, should any of that come to pass, they can feel a sense of accomplishment for what they have done.
The idea of "wifey" material means she is a keeper, that she is long-term relationship material. I don't see how this is a bad thing (unless the dude isn't genuine about that label, and uses it to string her along as a sex-source).
A question I have for you is... what do you consider "stringing along"? Are you one of those women that see marriage as the ONLY way that a man's commitment can be considered serious and genuine?
why does that feel condescending? is the position of wife a degrading one?
and also, keep in mind that 'wife material' means different things to different people, especially the guy who is calling her that. so u r right, it could b an insult but it could also be one of the greatest of compliments.

Hahaha... ya not sure why it is taken as a compliment. To me wifey material is demeaning. A girl may be good wife material, but that maybe all she is good at... chores, taking care of the kids etc.!
I prefer a woman who is about the family unit, but has her own dreams of what she wants to do and follows through. Being a wife, persae is both our jobs. We take care of each other and the family... it's shared!
If a girl desires to be a wife, why not find pleasure in being called wife material?

A lot of girls will fall in love with anyone that takes an interest in them. Their desperation is really just a confirmation of how little they have to offer a man in the first place...
You answered your own question. They don't have a ring, so the thought of being married is exciting to them. I'd rather take a girl who's been married once already since she knows more about what she's actually getting into instead of a competition with her friends to get hitched first.
I think it should be taken as a complement. That she is a highly desired woman due to attributes that go beyond looks.

Are you talking from experience sounds like you have a chip on your shoulder about it. If not woman and both guys want to hear what they want to believe we are all human beings.
