Probably because you've known each other for so long that she feels more comfortable crying in front of you than her boyfriend (depending on how long they've been dating, since you don't say). I wouldn't read too much into it. She was in a really emotional state and just need comfort from her best friend.

Even though she is dating him, you are still someone she needs a hug from in times like that. I have seen girls go to their dads for that consoling hug too instead of the boyfriend during really bad times. It doesn't mean she loves him any less, or has a thing for you. It just means at that time she needed a hug from you more.
