I feel the exact same way, it would be incredible if a woman asked me out.

Unfortunately that is NOT standard operating procedure. Yes, there has been multiple waves of feminism, but there is still the notion that men need to be the ones taking initiative in romantic endeavors. Sometimes the idea of a man taking initiative itself is considered romantic. The women are just supposed to sit there and look pretty.

But even without that sexist drivel, the responsibility would of course falls on the person who wants to go on a date. So if YOU are the one who wants to go out with her YOU have to be bold and and ask her out. Being shy isn't going to help. I know this from experience. If anything I'm being a hypocrite, I swear I'll be better when I go back to school in the fall!

I don't think its a responsibility that should fall on either person based on their gender. To say that it is the responsibility of either gender to me is barbaric and I have no respect whatsoever for someone who isn't willing to take risks to get what they want. That goes for both men AND women.

Ive told at least three of the guys that I've liked in the past, that I liked them. It could have gone somewhere if they weren't jerks about it.

Guy1- (told him through note and text) Ignored me, but then wanted to be friends

Guy2- (gave him a note/asked him how he felt) his response after I left, "Im gonna burn the note)

Guy3- (told him on fb) acted all sweet, appologizing that he didn't like me back, acted like a jerk in person

Finally I found a great guy, told me he liked me first. The first good one out of the bunch

Haha - no we aren't. have you seen how many of us ask "is he interested" on here. We are no more wise to the signals of the male than you are to us. I know people spell things out (eye and body contact, body language, etc), but I think most of us are so nervous or excited during the date that we don't even remember to look for that stuff, and then drive ourselves crazy trying to remember and analyze afterward.

I wish more girls would ask guys out too, but there are Pro's and Con's to taking the initiative and asking someone out, the Pro's is that we get to approach and literally go after the type of person we want and when we want, the Con's are is that we have to risk rejection or get teased and lead on, but overall, I think everyone instinctively wishes their oppossite gender would take charge. I think most girls don't ask guys out is because they don't have to, why bother working for something you want and you don't have have to do work for?
