Do guys have standards?

I hear this saying a lot and I know it sounds kinda crude but the phrase goes, "if it has 2 legs and a hole, a guy will do it". What exactly does that mean for the girl? Will a guy sleep with an average girl or a girl he wouldn't normally sleep with just to satisfy his needs?  Because this just seems like he'd do any girl. Please explain

Girls, guys do this social manipulation tactic known as "excuse support"

So a way guys "justify" things like casual sex, cheating, among many other things, is by "falsely agreeing" to anything that would lend support to their excuse (pocketed to be used at a future time).

It's similar to "compliment support", when guys agree to any support for their "super high & out of control" sex drive, which at a later time, can be used to let the girl feel good about herself as she gets to feel she has all this control & power over the guy and can get him so hot & bothered.

Guys do have standards.

It's the reason we're not happy with the way we look. Sure, on the outside we might seem like arrogant pricks who have an over-inflated idea about ourselves. But on the inside, what we're really thinking is, "crap, I'll never look like that steroid super-juiced ultra-photoshopped underwear model bodybuilder; and if I don't look like that, I'm ugly."

That's how high the bar is to guy in terms of looks and appearance. And if guys don't cut themselves any slack, what makes girls believe they cut girls any slack?

A guy that has sex with a girl that's "average", feels average. A guy that has sex with a girl that's "below average", feels below average. Would either of these cases take place?

Sure, if the guy is "willing to accept feeling that way". That is to say, that if the guy is perfectly content & comfortable with "feeling average or below average", then even though he "knows" the girl he's having sex with is average or below average; he doesn't care.

On the flip side of that, there are guys who would never accept anything less for themselves, and would rather not have sex, than have sex with someone average or below average.

There are pros & cons to both.

The pro to the no-standards approach, is that hot people have no more value to you than non-hot people. They're all the same. So if a hot girl says she needs to see you dish out $4,000 & 3 months of your time prior to sex; and an other girl says I'm horny I want you; the guy sees (sex now, vs. sex 3 months from now & $4,000 later); and obviously, it's not a hard choice to make.

The pro to the standards approach, is that it's a way of life, and people respect you more for having higher standards in every aspect of your life; inclusive of those you date or just sleep with. So a guy faced with the same situation above with think of it differently (which is more interesting to an economist). He would "discount" the two offers to see which is more worth it. A (10) costing $4,000 (1 month's net salary) & 3 months of his time, really costs 4 months of his time. Versus a (7) that costs 2 months of his time. (10/4) < (7/2), therefore he would pick the (7). But if it was a (10) vs. a (2); he would pick the (10).

If a guy has no self-respect, or respect for women, then yeah, that statement pretty much holds true for him. But as a general rule, a 'real man' (by which I mean an old-school man) wouldn't. Any man who conforms to that standard deserves to catch something from aforementioned things 'with 2 legs and a hole'.

Any man who is worth the title of 'man' (which used to hold honor in it, and still should, in my opinion) will not be so callous. He will value women, treat them well, not as sex objects. Show me a guy who does that to women, and I'll show you him with a black eye. It's only a few men who treat women like that, and they earn a bad name for the rest of us. He doesn't deserve to be called a man.

I think the saying was invented so women understand that just because a man wants to sleep with you, it doesn't mean he wants to be with you. Since most women have the hardest time understanding that a guy may be willing to have sex with a certain girl but has no desire to start a relationship with that woman.

I think the best comparison I've heard is think of it like telling a guy friend a secret. Because men misinterpret this one all the time. If you have a close guy friend you might be willing share all your secrets with him! You love that he is a good listener and you love how it makes you feel to get a guys opinion. But does that guy have to be the kind of guy you want to date? No. A lot of the time girls just like a guy as a friend and nothing more. Well from a guys perspective, he is thinking that you must really like him and trust him to tell him all this! Therefore, he is so close to become your boyfriend. But that just isn't the case. The kind of guy you want to be a friend is a different kind of guy then the one you want to date.

For men, it's like that but with sex. A guy may love a certain kind of woman. He may love a very feminine woman with black hair and blue eyes who is good with children and that is just his dream woman. But will he have sex with a lady trucker who is missing some teeth, yeah, some guys really would.

Sex doesn't just met a physical need cause they can always masturbate for that. There really are other needs, sort of emotional and mental ones, that sex meets in a man. So to get that feeling, he will have sex with a woman who he might not normally find attractive. But he isn't looking for a partner. He is looking to "feel like a man again" as one of my ex's called it. Just like we are very tied to our emotions, men are very tied to their sexuality. Expressing those things that are so dear to us makes us feel like all is well.

And obviously this is just a saying. Not every guy is like this. Some guys have no desire to sleep with a million women in their life because of the hassle. So they aren't going to be hunting down any woman at a bar for sex. Just like not every girl wants to tell all her secrets to any man she can find. Some guys just have a stronger drive to have sex, period. So they are going to stay at the bar till closing time to try and get a woman to go home with them. It really depends on how much of the guys sense of worth is tied up to his sexuality. Cause a lot of guys feel a strong sense of worth in work so they aren't as obsessed with looking everywhere for sex. But if a guy feels like it's something he is good at, can't fail at, and it makes him feel good, he will seek out sex a lot. And he is willing to seek it out with any kind of woman cause he just needs that feeling.

Well for sex, there are many guys who will have sex with a girl just to fill that need. Drive by a rough neighborhood late at night and browse some of the prostitutes. None of them will probably be Americas Next top model by a long shot but they still have men who willingly seek them out and pay them for sex.

a long time ago I called this guy for one of my friends. He had sex with my friend and after he hit it, he called her an ugly bitch. I asked him why he would call her ugly if he had sex with her and he told me "Pussy ain't got no face on it".

I have a lot of guy friends and I was raised by my dad so I have heard a lotta stuff through the years, yes especially if a guy is going through a dry spell and needs some sexual release, almost any girl who is there and willing and doesn't look like Precious, he will have sex with. And even girls who look like Precious get banged so that should tell you something

but guys usually have higher standards for girls they get into relationships with vs. girls that they just have sex with. Like a guy might have sex with an ugly girl at the end of the night but the next day he will act like he doesn't know her. Sad but true. Ladies protect yourselves and stop giving it up so easy if you don't want that to happen

btw average isn't bad. I'm talking about ugly...lots of guys will date average girls because they like and love them. you don't have to be a 10/10 to have a guy to like you

Guys have standards for relationships, but standards can be significantly lowered for sex. Add alcohol to the mix and standards can practically fly out the door.

Now, if a guy is able to stay satisfied with the number of really attractive girls he can get into bed, well he can keep his physical standards high and not suffer. Most guys don't fall into this category. Add to that guys who are able to have one night stands somewhat frequently usually have some sort of methodology involved. For instance, I read one post on here where the guy specifically approaches women he considers average or below average because he isn't afraid of talking to them or falling for them, so they are easy for him to bag and have sex with without guilt or concern. Other guys are looking for girls that are insecure and look for validation through sex.

I expect reasonable intelligence, dignity, etc. Really hate fake things, like fake boobs.. they are a sure sign of insecurity.

There is a line though, between a one night stand and a long term relationship. It's probably the same for most women. Even for a one night stand, if someone is a "turn off" there is no getting around it. Depends how desperate you are I guess. Alcohol helps.

I think it's the same for most men. Ever heard the saying "lady in the street but a freak in the bed?" that's every guys dream. But here's the messed up part.. they want the freak in the bed.. but only with THEM. The thought of your girl, doing the same thing with another man is like a sword through the heart. To hear she has done it with 50 other guys is like having your balls shaved with a cheese grater.

Of course, yes, there is a percentage that will hump anything that moves. They probably also think that fake DDD boobs are attractive.

Depends on the guy.

I won't date a girl who has had a lot of partners. Logically, I don't think I'd be able to develop feelings for a girl who does (did) that. I highly doubt I'd ever have sex with anyone outside of marriage; but that's me. I don't think I'd date anyone over 35 at this point, and so I highly doubt I'd marry them (and or) sleep with them.

One of my friends was one of those guys who would have sex with anything female, loose, and human. Either that or he just "bragged." Those seemed to be his only requirements.

They don't have standards. If all a guy is looking for is to f*** 'em and forget 'em, then his only standard is that looking at her doesn't make what he ate for lunch come back up.

I have standards...i wouldn't bang someone who weighs more than I do. But I've gotten more lax on my standards as I've gotten older for one very simple reason. MEN DO NOT GET APPROACHED FOR SEX AS OFTEN AS WOMEN. Plain and simple we have fewer opportunities than you ladies. So often we will take what we can get.

You women can afford to be nit picky and choosy if you are semi good looking or better. Most men don't have that luxury unless we are famous, rich or got really good game.

Average girls, on average, actually have more sex than very attractive girls.

However, it means that if you're pretty you're more likely to get wifed up and girlfriended than an average girl. He may have sex with you but probably doesn't want a future with an average girl.

We are known to be the most aggressive of either sexes so it makes sense that we are more sexual. A guy I went to school with hooked up with the ugliest woman in the school and she was fat.
