Should I Go To A Concert With My Girlfriend, Even Though I'm Not A Fan?

Here's the deal: My girl's birthday is coming up and I got her two tickets to a country concert. I want to go with her and have no problem going with her. However, I have never been a big fan of country music. Its not like I hate it, its just not something I would put on my iPod, ya know?

So would she be OK with me going, even when she knows I'm not as crazy about the music as she is? Or would it be better for her to go with one of her friends, who would like the music just as much as my girlfriend?

I don't think your taste in the music will matter much as long as you enjoy spending the time with her. If it were me, I'd rather my husband went with me than one of my friends especially if he was the one who bought the tickets. Sure, my husband actually has gotten more used to my love for country music and actually likes some of it but he will never feel the same way about it as I do. I grew up with it and I know pretty much every song in the genre by heart. Go with her if you truly want to go, but if you think you're going to be bored the whole time then its best that you don't ruin her fun. You don't want her to have a bad time just because you are. So think about it this way, she will enjoy your company as long as you are willing to enjoy yourself being with her as opposed to being bored by the music.

It's your girlfriend's birthday and she would like to spend it with YOU. Sure, you don't particularly like country music - lots of people don't. But this isn't about YOU. It's about HER and making HER birthday special. Sometimes we do things for the people we love to see them happy. You could give her the choice - go with you or her girlfriend - that you want her to be happy with the decision she makes. But if you bought the tickets - I really think you should go with her. She'd love having you there - and who knows? Maybe when it's YOUR birthday - she wil do something for YOU that she might not be crazy about but wants to make you happy. See how it works? Hey, you can always bring some ear plugs ...lol

Good advice and your right, its not about me at all. I was more asking whether or not she would prefer to go with me rather than a friend. It seems like the general consensus is that she'll be fine with me going. Thanks for assuring my expectations! :)

Yes you should go with her. It's her birthday, make her happy, even if you are partially dying through it. You brought her the tickets, and it would probably mean a lot to her since she knows you don't like the music. I would absolutely love it if my boyfriend went to a concert he wasn't too into but knew it would mean a lot to me.

Sometimes in a relationship, you have to make small sacrifices for someone else's happiness - this is one of those times. Even though she's more of a fan of the music than you are, it's much more about the time the two of you are spending together at the concert.
