Like is women in support frowned upon in America. I can't see myself dancing around in a skimpy outfit spelling out letters on the sideline I'd rather play.

As an American competitive cheerleader I will lay those horrible clichés and stereotypes to rest. Cheerleading may look like a sport for sluts but that's because that's how movies brand it. It is definitely a sport. Cheerleading is much harder than it may seem. Competitive cheerleading is much harder than regular football/basketball cheerleading. Competitive cheer involves extreme flexibility, tumbling, stunting, and dance. We wake up very early to do drills and workouts just like any other sport. Cheerleading is not just an American sport. I've competed against teams from China, Jamaica, Brazil, New Zealand. Look it up.
Women's sports aren't frowned upon in America, and with all do respect, cheerleading itself is not as easy as it looks, and could very well be considered a sport of it's own. How many people do you know can do backflips and throw each other in the air? Lol. If they are happy doing it they don't need other women saying it's wrong - equality isn't doing everything that the boys do, it's having the ability to choose if you WANT to.
@chico_brah Your girl was a cheerleader, right? That shit couldn't have been easy for her no?
She was in cheer and volleyball. Cheer is really competitive. This girl who is asking the question is a catfish by the way.
www.google.com/search
@Chico_brah Ha, go figure.
Lol I genuinely do not understand as to how people don't think to google reverse images. She most likely has a lot of people fooled.
reverse the image and find my Facebook page and where I live. I won't be that stupid again. @Chico_brah can you please stop with the private messages and dick pics.
No private msgs or dick pics lmao
@Chico_brah Yeah seems like she's upset and is unaware that you're taken with a baby on the way bro.
Ahaha wants to feel validated with my requests of nudes and dick pics.
So why the dick pics and private messages?
@Chico_brah Only so many could be so honored.
I believe what you're saying is fictional young one. Lol.
I also find it odd that you blocked him but we can settle this easy:
screenshots.
It's reported anyway
Well if you have proof of it I can possibly do something about it myself. Provided you actually can and aren't just making it up due to being called out.
Aaaand she's gone xD
@AleDeEurope Of course she is. Lol. That's what happens when you catfish and get called out for making up BS.
Lmao. Cheer was more competitive than Volleyball in my opinion. This girl is on something. I'm willing to bet she never even played sports, but If she was actually that girl then I would have wanted Tony to get nudes. Send them to me please. Lmao too bad it's just a silly catfish though.
@Snuga2Allie Yeah unfortunately they are abundant on this website.
It definitely seems likes that. I was the type of girl who would reverse images from Tinder just to make sure before I even started talking to them. I've always been really paranoid.
@Snuga2Allie I mean you kind of have to be. If someone seems too good to be true on the internet, they often are.
I'd say like 9/10 times its to be cool and not to cheer on their team itself lol plus they go along with all the (American) football players so both are just trying to be cool most the time
So basically to grab a player.
Yeah, and to gain yourself some status on being popular. I used to hear kids at my school say that to be popular you just have to join those smh
First off, cheer leaders are athletes as well. They do a combination of dance, gymnastics and still have to be able to be be loud and heard and understood. In addition they have competitions, nationals and all that other stuff as well. They also get to be the hot girls that all the guys in school want.
Now, if that isn't what you want to do, don't do it, play your sport. Because playing Rugby was a huge highlight in my educational career, and most of my best friends i met in my sport. Be yourself, and be happy with being yourself.
You get me
Maybe YOU prefer to play a sport, while THEY prefer to be a cheerleader? Just because you do one thing doesn't mean it's the best thing and what everyone should do.
Women's sports are more popular in the US than anywhere else in the world, so no, they're not frowned upon, it's just that THOSE girls prefer to do cheerleading.
Couldn't have said this better myself. I really do wonder why people feel the need to that other people need to think like they do. If that happened, the world would be a boring place.

Here's a funny a little story about this I'm trying to finish up high school and each year I've been a part of the swimming club and I wanted to kind of switch it up by joining two clubs. I choose gymnastics to try and help with the swimming. I don't take the gymnastics seriously whatsoever I'm just trying to learn different stuff to be more flexible I guess. I didn't realize that gymnastics was also the cheerleader type thing. Top of that I thought there would be other guys there is no dudes anywhere in sight so it's kind of awkward. The funniest thing about this is the French teacher is the gymnastics teacher me and the French teacher actually get along she's one of my favorite teachers cuz she actually helps me with stuff during class. Fast forward to the end of last semester the final stuff was going on along with the gymnastics tournament or competition or whatever for the region I was in. I told the teacher sure I'll go and it's the weirdest thing because the female and male stuff is on different days and I'm the only male out of my school looks so weird cuz it's just me and my teacher sitting on the bleacher planning our routine. Meanwhile for some reason all these other schools have at least like six to like maybe 10 people. I don't take it seriously at my gym teacher knows that we're expecting to lose we've came to terms with that. We were just using it as an excuse to like get out of the school I think. But the weirdest shit happens cuz at the end I decided to do a kick up like a ninja I expected to get disqualified so that way I could go back to swimming this semester. Unfortunately I did not get disqualified for some reason I got first place for adding that kick up. I think my teacher tricked me because she knew I could do that but she told me not to do it until doing the routine for the judges and I listened. And then I seen other students once I finished my routine trying to add it to their routine. word spread in the school that I got first place first and now my teacher wants to keep me in gymnastics for the cheerleading thing because for some reason people think first place equals safe person I have no confidence in my ability to catch somebody falling back down towards me and now she's trying to teach me cheerleader routines. My end goal is to get back into swimming it's what I'm used to and I love. Let alone the gymnastics outfits are like embarrassing and cold for swimming I have to wax my body which is weird I will admit I understand that but I do it anyway cuz it's recommended by teacher. But when you have a waxed body doing gymnastics you get cold easily because of the outfit and swimming you don't even though there is like less clothing I guess but you're in the water most the time I don't know what to do. But yeah the cheerleaders after learning the routine that stuff is not easy it has to be very precise otherwise you're going to get really messed up.
Also I don't blame you if you don't want to read all this I was just going with it remembering stuff cuz this was fun but also kind of funny
Number one they cheer on girls sports too and a lot of cheerleaders actually also have played or do play other sports as well. You seem to have a lot of false ideas about cheerleading and misconceptions that’s frankly sad.
If you don’t want to do something then that’s fine but if you think that cheerleaders are delicate little princess on the sidelines you’re wrong. Most are actually extremely fit, in extremely good shape, and very athletic. As well as the time and training that it takes to be able to preform the stunts they they do is a lot harder then you may think it looks.
You’re also thinking all cheerleaders are girls…. And that’s not true either there are boys (and psss not all of them are gay). Some are actually very straight because well…. They get to be with some very beautiful girls….. But regardless of gay or straight or the reasoning behind it. There are a lot of stunts that actually help because of the boys/men who are in cheer. Such as being able to hold up a bunch of girls.
You should really check yourself. Cheerleading doesn’t have to be your cup of tea. But that doesn’t mean you should shit on someone and disrespect them because I can promise you it’s not near as easy as it looks.
Not to mention they are really the second most dangerous athletics program statistically. This is due to falls when preforming stunts. Being hit in the head by a ball. Having players or refs running into them. As well as botched flips and stuff. Many suffer concussions among other injuries such as tearing muscles.
Also yes some are in it for status or to bag a player…. They don’t typically make it long if their hearts not in it.
That’s just the truth. They are like you and think it’s easy.
I consider cheerleading to be a sport. They put just as much dedication and practice into their sport as any other athlete does, and they should be afforded just as much respect as any other athlete. Maybe a better question would be why don't they play other sports in addition to being a cheerleader? And maybe the answer to that is that wih all the practice time that they must put in, maybe they don't have time to play any other sport. (Although with some schools, there are separate squads for football and basketball, so maybe a girl could cheerlead during football season, and then maybe return to play girls' basketball during basketball season. Obviously impossible to play basketball and cheerlead at the same games!
because they chose to be cheerleader,
the ones who do wanna play sports, actually do play sports.
and according to my knowledge cheering is now considered a sport too.
so it all boils down to this
the cheerleaders aren't forced to quit playing and start cheerleading, but they choose whatever they have an inclination towards.
I always thought competitive cheerleading was a thing. I recently had a student who travelled to US to compete in a world cheerleading competition and knew of many others who trained at the sport locally.
I think the men's sport is more commercialised and therefore brings in more money and in order to attract more audience and media, they use entertainment outside of the sport played to keep attention on the event. Those girls who do it for cheering purposes are just there to entice noise and support for their teams.
Those ones that get flipped through the air come down and break their necks all the damn time.
For something that's not a sport, it has a much higher injury profile than some of the sports they're "cheering on."

Cheerleading can be considered a sport. They do have competitions that involve performing a set of routines.
Women's sports have no end game. The best they can get is a second seat to men's sports even at the professional level. There's very few female superstars that transcend their gender. The Williams Sisters and Mia Ham are the only ones I can think of that have obtained superstar status.
I see they train as hard as any sportsmen, but most of the girls see this as a stepping stone for their career.
could be not a lot of acrobatic sports as alternatives. or feeling cool
Don't the US have like an amazing gymnastic programme?
I don't think most schools. I honestly haven't heard from anyone I know something about gymnastics programs in their school. I wished my school had it though
First off, cheerleading is a sport. I do agree that some teams such as the ones with NFL do take it to far with the clothing, and they are the reason that cheerleaders aren’t respected. However, the amount of work and effort that goes into being a cheerleader such as stunting, tumbling, dancing, cheering and much more. It requires time, dedication, perseverance and time. Whether they are cheering on the sidelines or at a competition cheerleading is a sport.
Each to their own. Don't see why someone making a different choice is such a big deal.
As for reasons why someone might pick cheerleading. The social side, frustrated dancer or gymnast, performing in front of bigger crowds or they just prefer it to competing and being judged.
What's wrong with cheerleading? It's cool. If I was American I would have been a cheerleader, they have cute clothes and do cool stuff.
Cheerleading is like a mix of sport dance and acrobatic gymnastics which is very cool.
If you ignored for a moment the fact that cheerleading supports men's sports and looked just at the cheerleading you would know it is itself a sport, and often a competitive one. I think women like you just can't seem to get past the fact that it happens at men's sporting activities. How feminist of you.
There is girl sports at every high school some girls rather be a cheerleader than a basket ball player, volleyball, softball , soccer and many other sports the girls even cheer at girls basket ball games so I don't know what your talking about
Cheerleaders are an American thing, I'm not American that's why ask. Also I get the impression for a lot of American girls that girl sports are no big deal in American schools. Is there any competition for playing time in Women's sports there?
Girls love to show off. They can play sports but that tends to get in the way of looking pretty.
Just depends on her. Some women enjoy it some don't.
Cheering for your school team doesn't sound bad.
These girls don't want to be athletes they like dancing.
Must be an American thing
Generally no unless they import the idea
That is such a cliché
because they wanted to be cheerleaders more than they wanted to compete in a sport.
I guess I am the exception to the rule. I was a cheerleader in high school but I also played basketball, volleyball, softball and track.
All the hot ones go there lol
More girls more fans xD
they wanna be hot, and want the dudes, but there's sports for chicks too, but that doesn't mean they wanna do it.
We American males like watching girls cheer and they i suppose can keep in shape and learn cool moves
Sports news and live sports coverage including scores, results, video, audio and analysis on Football, F1, Cricket, Rugby Union and all other UK sports
Most are also athletes in some other sport. Also, it helps their social status a lot and increases their dating stock.
Cheerleaders really do bring out the stiff competition in men, especially when they do those leg splits. I can't stop looking at the crotches of the cheerleaders. So fucking hot!
it's to keep people going to sports events
Because not every female needs to prove something.
Wow that droped like a bomb XD
Cheerleaders are too cowardly to play sports :P
Wrong lol…. If you knew how many injuries and concussions they get it’s like rihjt behind football
It is a sport
I don't know but it's sexy as hell so who cares!
To be clear, I mean like NFL and University cheerleaders are sexy. I didn't see about highschool in the question before I posted. You shouldn't get them trying to be sexy until their old enough
they want attention
Not sure lol
I msged u lol
No idea
