Do guys get offended when girls offer to pay their half?

My friend and I were talking about this the other day. We both believe a girl should offer to pay her portion of the bill on the date. If the guy insists on paying, the girl should be gracious and thank him. If the guy takes her up on her offer, she should pay her part with no ill feelings.

The other night my friend went on a date. When she offered to pay, he called her a "feminist bitch" and ranted about how she likes to emasculate men to make herself feel powerful.

We were both surprised at his behavior. Do guys normally get offended when girls offer to pay?

That's a bullsh*t question and here is why. First off, I would love if more women offered it because why should I pay for the 200 dollar dinners, for what? It's date, I'm not married to you, I have no commitment to you. Secondly, if you do offer and we accept, chances are you go and tell all your little friends and then we are labeled as being cheap! So basically it's just expected the guy always pays, or we pay for it in some other way, harsh words or negativity, at least where I live in the great Orange County, land of the fake home of the insecure!

$200 dinners? I've never been to a dinner where the bill topped $40. Maybe you should take your dates to less expensive restaurants.

Also, I've had guys take me up on my offer to pay before, and I never thought they were cheap. They were being fiscally responsible, and I understand completely.

Yeah well, that's just me, I go after the wrong type, but here in OC, it's far different lifestyle.

I'm from Las Vegas, so the lifestyle is comparable, but I'm sure you can find some nice girls in OC who aren't out for your money.

Yeah, sophisticated women. I don't like ugly girls, but I can't stand bitchy women either. I'm so picky on who I date. I like women that have a nice sense of style and glamour to them. Not for a trophy cause I don't need that to be recongnized.

Offended? No. In fact it's a good thing. To at least make the offer I think is only polite and shows courtesy and selflessness, all good qualities. That guy was just weird and mentally messed up.

It shows a better side of here and is nice to know she's not a cheap gold digger, but it's not offensive. Unless I'm tight on money I'd most likely tell her I got it.
