Why are bigger butts/being thick so popular?

Lately more women strive to be "thick" and some women even alter their bodies to fit into the "Instagram model" look. I'd like to know what society thinks is the reason. Open to anyone, please vote/comment. For argument's sake, let's say curvy and thick aren't the same thing.

And likewise, I personally prefer slimmer, more slender and evenly proportioned women to thick, 'curvy' (i. e, fat), and disproportionately top- or bottom-heavy women.

It mostly happened with the rise of rap and hood culture. There were always ass men out there, but it's definitely become more prevalent since the 80s. Big butts are definitely a feature found more attractive in the communities that inhabit the... less financially well-to-do parts of the United States.

It's more about an increased focus on black beauty and black sexuality. Big butts are not exclusively African, but they may as well be. Look at MC Hammer's most popular song as well... Black culture and big butts are inextricably linked.

The problem is that sadly most people are stupid enough to follow the crowd even if it's over a cliff because it's the popular thing to do. People need to stop being afraid of being different. Who cares what a celebrity thinks about this, or how they feel a body should be. They're just people at the end of the day who put their pants on one leg at a time.

People need to think for themselves and not be so shallow, instead of focusing on looks, focus at the person underneath, who they really are. people can be like a house. You can buy a house that looks beautiful on the outside but on the inside if the house is infested with Roaches and rats and the supports are eaten up with termites, and the foundation is cracked, does it really matter that the house looked amazing on the outside?

Yes she is a huge part of it but curvey basically means African shape. All this is being pushed in the west where the overwhelming majority are of European origin. So we see white people falling over themselves to look African. Butt, boob and lip implants. Yet visit Africa or Asia and the narrative is very different. These places are falling over themselves to look European. Hair dyes, hair relaxers, skin bleaching, nose/cheek sculpting. The corporations push this cancer to 1, make us all forgot ourselves (ethnicity), 2 make us feel ugly, 3 make us pay money to fix our "unglyness"
