My ex is being wishy washy and doesn't know what he wants!

I am trying not to talk to my ex becuase I want him to miss me and realize that he made a mistake. We have been broken up for a week now. He has been saying he is confused and doesn't know what he wants. When I give him space and don't talk to him he says that it is pushing him away and telling him that I have moved on and he has to also... what the hell? I don't want to push him away! help?

We have a house and lots of pets together and we were talking about getting engaged a few months ago.

We have just recently been fighting a lot and we had a big fight and he says he can't get over the words that were said and that it killed him. I apologized but he says he wants to try again but that he doesn't know if things will change so it holding him back.

I moved my stuff out of the house when he was at work so I could show him I didn't want to play these games. I left a note on the counter that said "hey, just stopped by to pick up some things." plain and simple. He never called or texted me when he got home from work which makes think that he just didn't care, yet yesterday he said he wasn't sure he wanted me to move my things out. I'm confused and I want to be with him and get through this... please help me on how to get him back and why he is doing this. I am trying to be strong.
