OK, a lot of blue anon posts have come up asking about all women being bisexual (which is a just a big load) but it does raise an interesting question. a lot of women find the female body more aesthetically beautiful even if they don't find it attractive. Ask just about any woman if they would rather have a male or female nude model for an art class the majority would probably say female. a lot of guys have a hard time understanding how this works. A lose analogy is comparing a photo of a beautiful animal and an unattractive woman.

You may find the animal more "beautiful" even though you'd rather have sex with the woman. Before anyone calls me "gross" I said it is a LOSE analogy for a reason.

But this does raise an interesting question: why do women feel this way about other women but men don't feel it about other men (although we'll get to that later). Well lets look back at human prehistory (before civilization). If men are mating with the most fertile females they are more likely to pass on their genes thus selecting for males who find the most fertile females the most attractive (a big butt = a lot of fat reserves to support the fetus in the womb, big boobs = (in theory) more milk for the baby). BUT in virtually all societies child rearing (while being primarily the mothers' responsibility) is communal activity that all women in the tribe partake in. And because we are a social species we live in groups and if there is an incentive for other females in a group to care for the most fertile females (and by implication the most attractive) females in the group, that group will produce more offspring than the others. And that incentive could manifest itself as women finding other fertile women being more aesthetically beautiful without finding them sexually attractive. So in my opinion there's nothing crazy about it and it doesn't have anything to do with "all women being secretly bisexual" it's just simple evolutionary biology.

One reason could be because in our society, women are still by and large the objects, men by and large are still the subjects. In other words, everyone finds it very normal that women are looked at, while men are the ones doing the looking.

As a society, we've become very accustomed to seeing women as objects to be desired or lusted over. In contrast, we get uncomfortable when we place men as the objects.

Why? Because it's not the status quo. It's not what we're used to. Being the object of desire is seen as the status quo for women, and for a man to "reduce" himself to taking up the "role" of what has historically been reserved for women only, well, that makes us uncomfortable in the same way that people are more uncomfortable seeing men dress up in women's clothing than seeing men dress up in women's clothing.

Why? Because, as a society, we see men as leaders and the people who are in charge of society - in essence, we think of men as sitting higher up the pyramid of power than women. So, a conventionally attractive woman who wears male clothing is seen as less strange because, why, of course she would want to wear the trappings and accoutrements of those who wield power. That makes sense. But, why would a man 'lower' himself by wearing women's clothing, the trappings and accoutrements of those who lack power? We laugh, we point and stare, because it goes against the grain of social dynamics - people understand climbing up the pyramid, not so much the climbing down.

A similar thing happens when women enter a previously male-dominated field. Studies have shown time and time again that when a previously male-dominated field sees an influx of women into the ranks, overall wages go down. Still, people will applaud her and say, "Wow. You have what it takes to succeed in a male-dominated industry. You've got balls!"

When men enter a previously female-dominated profession, people nto to applaud, but ask the big question: WHY? Take men who become nurses for example. Although more people are becoming enlightened to the fact that there are men who make great nurses, but some are still thinking "Why does he want to become a nurse when he can become a doctor?" In essence, why does he "lower" himself to doing what is traditionally seen as a women's job?

This manifests itself in the mating ritual as well, where everyone knows that the social script says that women love to be desired, whereas men desire women, and says that women love to be chases, whereas men should do the chasing. Women wait around for men to ask them out, while men have the balls to go out and do the asking and make things happen. Women object, men subject.

Another example would be profession of being a stripper.

We think of female strippers as objects of desire. Lonely men, wealthy men, socially awkward men - we think of them as going to stripping establishments because they get to see all these gorgeous women on stage taking their clothes off. These men sit, enjoy the view in front of them, checking out the women. Meanwhile, we think of female strippers as people who dance for the viewing pleasure of men, who are there to fulfill the dreams of all these lonely, desperate men. We often think of female strippers as doing the job for the money, trying to get through law school, trying to pay the bills. In essence, it's a job they don't really want to do but they do it anyway because it pays the bills. Once again, women as objects, men as subjects.

We don't think of male strippers the same way. Male strippers are agents of their own sexuality. We think of them as active, cheeky go-getters who are enjoying parading in front of hordes of giggling women. We think of them as being manly and taking charge, and that they enjoy showing off themselves and their manhoods, just as much, perhaps even more so, than the women in the crowd. We don't think of men as bored, sad participants who are only dancing to pay the bills. We think they enjoy it and enjoy the...

I don't think your theory explains it. Using that logic I could say males would also find the masculine form to be pleasing because they'd have better men to hunt alongside.

I personally haven't met any straight women that find the female form more 'aesthetically pleasing' than the male form. I think women are just more open about appreciating other females whereas many men are immature and feel as if they're gay if they acknowledge another man's aesthetics, only men who are into fitness typically respect other men who workout, the rest of the men are just jealous.

I think what it boils down to is that men put less effort into their looks. Sure some of them are gym rats, but so they spend time picking out outfits like us, doing specific exercises to lengthen the muscles like us, get facials like us, spend money on their hair like us, amongst a multitude of other things? No. If men put more effort into their appearance, I'm sure we'd appreciate it more. As it stands, the vast majority of men go for t-shirts 1-3 sizes too big and a $5 3 in 1 shampoo, conditioner and body wash that leaves their hair coarse and decidedly un-shiny.

Because the female form absolutely, intrinsically, is a stunning achievement of molded perfection through millions of years of evolution. What creatures stand and are shaped like us besides apes? Do the apes have such smooth delicate skin, wrapped over such symetrical and refined bone and muscle? These hands, these fingers.. All of it almost purposefully created in the most sympathetic of ways giving us the ability beyond any other species to accomplish anything and everything.

Men too, look at the statues of antiquity. It's all a marvel, a masterpeice. It's beauty and the human form should be shared in conscious in the same way in which we react to other animals. Except we are these animals, so we find ourselves in-love. We find ourselves starstruck by our own magnificence.

Keep in mind I pretty much wrote this before reading your post, I am only now skimming around your analogy for the wolf. The female form in its raw and complete form is a Goddess, so women are more likely just drawn to it because it's an obliterating light that blows them out of the way enough that they cannot even be envious or what-have-you without also experiencing the same feelings everyone else does towards the female (and male) figure at its highest height.

Nah, the majority of females are simply just not straight.
It's not a bunch of "load", but a finding of legitimate clinical trials.
Most "straight" women not only find women "aesthetically pleasing" but also get sexually aroused when they look at them.
Only about 20% of women experience sexual attraction exclusively towards the male gender.

I mean, here is a statement of a woman who identifies as straight:
"Whenever my boyfriend asks me what kind of porn I want to watch, I usually say, "Two girls, one guy." Why? Because women turn me on. To be clear, I am straight—but I've always found that watching two women in sexual situations is pretty hot."

I think it’s really more to do with the fact of women being objectively better looking in general because women are being taught to pay more attention to our looks (“looks are female capital”) whereas men pretty much get away with looking like a homeless person on crack in this society. Its socialization.
Put a man who regularly works out, has good facial features, grooming habits & hygiene in front of a bunch of people next to a woman who works out, has good facial features, grooming habits & hygiene and the results are gonna be that they’re pretty even look wise. If you put them in front of women only most women are probably gonna prefer the man.

I've never thought about this to a particularly analytical level, but your hypothesis feels valid to me.

As for women finding the female form more aesthetically pleasing than the male form, yet not being sexually attracted to it, that's never been something I've struggled to understand.

I find plenty of things aesthetically appealing, from buildings to birds, but that doesn't translate to me wanting to have sex with a goldfinch.

Errr I'm pretty sure the majority of the female gender finds the male body to be more aesthetically pleasing. The ones who comment differently are either insecure or lesbian. They view it as calling the male body more attractive means the female body is not.

Men have bodies that look sculptured. Their bodies are far more aesthetic with their angular symmetrical features and their muscles (women have more fat).

Well, look at it this way. Female beauty is held up as very important in society, and images of women in all our media are highly sexualized.

When we have numerous examples of "women = beauty" reiterated throughout our lives.

It seems natural that some women would respond to that.
