What does it mean when you dream about someone you're trying to forget?

The dream felt so real I had posted on my Instagram story and I saw who viewed it and it had his name... this guy did me dirty he made believe he was in love with me he made me fall in love with him he was acting single he made me believe he cared about me... and then two years later I find out he had a girlfriend he was cheating on for three years and then on August 2 2017 he became a dad but 4 days later he asked me for sex so that gave me a lot anxiety we didn't ended the friendship on good terms and now he is married, but the fact that I had a dream about him is so strange

Well at first, it's nice to feel good and to feel secure, don't let the rupture make you feel bad about wanting it for you, and if he made you feel some kind special you are lucky to have felt something like that for some time.

The fact you are "trying to forget" him probably means you think about him sometimes and he is in the back of your mind. He was a big part of your life at one time so it's not surprising that he cropped up in your dream. I've had people randomly come up in my dreams from school days, people I hardly talked to a couple of time. I finished school 18 years ago
