Exotic usually means you have features that are rare to come across.. like out of the common gene pool... and you have an enigmatic aura around you. If you're exotic.. you are bound to turn a lot of heads since you will look so foreign and different but in an enticing way. The Exotic description is mainly applied to peole from tropical regions who probably have bronze to dark skin tones and sultry features such as dusky eyes and dark hair. Basically the quintessential mysterious and sexy stranger look.

It means two things:
(i) You look physically attractive, AND
(ii) You don't look like the predominant ethnicity in that area/region/country.

For example, in Poland, a Japanese woman might be considered exotic.
Whereas an English ginger might be considered exotic in Japan.

However, take note that the word "Exotic" is often used for those people who are PERCEIVED to be Physically Attractive (whether they are, or not, is a matter of personal taste)

So, Ed Sheeran might be an English ginger in Japan - but whether he'd be considered "Exotic", well...

Usually it means they think you look pretty and not white/fully white. Lmao jkjk (partially) but it is referring to race and ethnicity most of the time. I personally get it a lot and like I get that it’s a compliment and everything like it doesn't upset me but I find it a bit weird. Whatever tho. They mean well, if that’s what you’re wondering.

It's supposedly a compliment that you are beautiful and desirable as a rare gem (in terms of ethnicity). In an all white country a brazilian woman would be exotic, in japan a white woman would be exotic etc.

I feel like it means you have a different appearance than the people around you. This also tends to mean that person in particular is attractive but in a non conventional way.
Perhaps being a attractive racial minority in an area that is dominated by something else.

Opposite from how they look. To me the girl in the picture looks exotic. I have very white skin, grey eyes, very blonde hair... where it still grows or hasn’t gone grey. So to me girls with olive skin and dark hair and dark eyes or even other races look exotic.

I think it mostly just means that your skin color is not the norm, and typically that it is attractive. Some chinese people refer to caucasians as 'exotic' since white people aren't very common there.
