Why might a girl keep defensively tying a sweater around her waist, in front of a guy she likes?

A guy I know said he met a girl, and every time she walked in front of him, she would tie a sweater around her waist. He felt pretty uncomfortable (like she was implying he made her self-conscious and wanted to defend herself from his pervert stare), but when he commented on it, she got really nice and started talking to him.

A similar situation happened to me, in which I was disappointed when I thought I made her uncomfortable. So, I backed off and stopped talking to her. But after that, she kept staring and initiating conversation.

Why might girls do stuff like that, for attention, when most guys will assume that she's uncomfortable around him and doesn't want to talk to him?

Do you and the other guys subconsciously think she’s hot? If so, most likely she’s self conscious of being hit on for the wrong reasons. Most attractive girls get a lot of dogs (self-experience). Men are naturally attracted to parts that particularly stand out. I actually tied a jacket over my waist at a place I knew I’d get dogged out to avoid the cat-call or constant thirsty stares. She’s probably had bad experiences from majority of the interactions she’s had with guys. Maybe she initiates conversations so she feels in control of situations when it comes to guys. I would say respect it because she’s still talking to you even when she feels uncomfortable.

It could be, or it could be that she warm and wants to tie her jacket around her waist. She doesn’t want to hold it or that she wearing something that she thinks is inappropriate and she doesn’t want to draw attention to herself. Or she insecure about her legs and her butt. She maybe got made fun of I don't know so she feels like she has to hid. Ask her!!!
