Not all of us are. Also, many men are just as insecure. Not a gender issue. It is not easy to acknowledge to someone you like them more than in just a platonic way. Rejection sucks and can be scary. We can't put our feelings away and it can make a person nervous when you like them but aren't sure they like you back. Being attractive is not always a confidence booster to everyone and some people don't always see themselves as others do.
I married a much older man because I loved his personality. It had nothing to do with age, so I don't know why some women go for older men. Financial security maybe.
