+1 yIt's neither. Crying is an expression at a high level of the experience of strong emotion. It can be joy, anger, sadness, pain, etc. There is not circumstance where it takes strength to cry. Crying itself as a signal to the outside world is at least a sign of vulnerability. And depending on you situation, that can be a good or bad thing. It's a bad thing if you need to take action to survive, but instead your crying. It's a good thing when under distress and in a protected space to release pent up emotion. It just doesn't have to do with strength, positively or negatively.

+1 ycrying is an expression of emotion. We often cry when we are grieving a loss of friend or family member, but we also shed tears when we experience elation and joy. I would not associate crying with strength or weakness, but a way of expressing our "feelings" when we are overcome with emotion. 🙂

+1 yNeither. Crying is a coping mechanism. Research suggests that crying is an emotional release mechanism useful to your mental health.
But if I were to choose one option, I'd choose strength. You need to have the courage to cry in front of people. You need to be courageous enough to be vulnerable in front of a bunch of people. Even if you are alone, crying can be therapeutic and can be a good stress relief10 Reply
not always
depends on situation
if u cry somewhere where you're needed to be strong in not very good though
crying can be used as a weapon also
but crying alone in a room out of public eyes is always good
crying your heart out can lighten you up of the weight you were bearing
Hope it helps

+1 yI. dont know. I stand 2 places in this argument
1: being an unemotional person myself, I think caring about stuff enough to cry is kind of weak... I don't force back or hold tears to "appear" masculine... I just generally don't have any sadness or. tears to even let out, cos I don't care about stuff... So that makes me feel more masculine than a emotionally weak boy who wants to cry a lot
2. But on the other hand, if. you do feel the need/. desire to cry... But are too scared to out of fear of judgement and being seen as a girl... That's weak because your scared to do something you want to do, real men would cry if he wanted to cos he doesn't care what others think
So I don't know where I stand on this or what conclusion to come to... But I think if your a very emotional guy who feels the need to cry a lot... I'm sorry but I jus see that as feminine and kind of girly11 Reply- +1 y
But to be honest I think I'm a bit of both. I rarely ever feel the need to cry... I think there was one or two times... But being a male... I didn't wanna seem like a weak girl so I held. it back
In most cases, I believe crying is a sign of the brain undergoing a stimulus it isn't used to receiving. Physical or psychological pain or an intense happiness for example.
The problem most people have with crying is that some people succumb to it easier than others and it leaves people in a very emotionally and physically vulnerable state. In a situation where things are getting real, crying is the last thing you want to do and you want to be stoic to get out of the situation as quickly and reasonably as possible.10 ReplyWe have made a society kinda where guys are taught to hold their emotions wether they are too much happy, sad or feeling miserable. So for guys... It's kinda like be neutral to show to the society that it hardly matters to you. But inisde only we guys can know what war is going.
10 ReplyThereâs a theory Iâve heard about one time that if someone were to letâs say get punched, they wouldnât necessarily be in shock due to the physical force. The sound of the force would actually trigger an emotional âchordâ and cause more pain. Thereâs more being researched on this.

+1 yFor someone who bottles up everything, I'd say it's a sign of strength since they can't really fit all the emotions in.
On the other hand, for someone who displays their emotions a lot more, I'd refer to it as weakness.
Bruh I don't think that made any sense. But that's my take on it ¯\_(ă)_/¯10 ReplyI think the ability to cry and acknowledge your emotions is a strong trait, especially in men. Many men will say that crying for a man is a weakness, but denying your emotions and holding things in without dealing with then is actually the weakness because they are not strong enough to cope with them.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yDepends. But men are definitely held to a different standard than this vs. women. Also most women do NOT deep down respect men who cry unless itâs a very specific circumstance (death of a loved one, child is born, wedding vows, etc).
I remember having talk to my ex two weeks after we broke up (for business purposes). Half way though the conversation out of nowhere my eyes watered up and I said âI miss talking to youâ Only time I ever cried in front of her in my entire life (she cried in front of me countless times). Ever.
Her response: âwith EXES I donât talk because itâs weird.â She put a nice screeching emphasis on the âexesâ part that I would never forget.10 ReplyItis situational. I think boxers or martial artists are the perfect example, who could take all the pain and brain damage but would never cry or quit, they can get their strength and endure anything, but once their fight is over lose or win they get emotional and cry. If someone doesn't have emotions, not crying is just their default, but if someone always cries they're very likely just expect pitty and others to fight their fights.

+1 yI think it depends. If someone is quick to bust out and fry all the time for everything and anything, I think itâs a sign of weakness. If someone just breaks down from something and cries , it can be used as a strength to move forward

It's neither weakness nor strength. It's just emotion that can't be contained.22 Reply- +1 y
Studies tell that doing that helps you to process your emotions better.

Really? Hmmmm.
I've researched crying. Aboutt 60% of people feel a release and emotionally sort of better after crying.
40% do not.
So it's a personalized thing. There isn't one method that applies to all.
(Personally, crying makes me feel much, much, worse. It entrenches me in those feelings.)
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yCrying is an expression for sadness. Like the anger. It is not weakness i think the real weakness is trying so hard to supress your emotions to look stronger. We are humans we need to express our emotions in a healthy way. The more we supress our emotions, the stronger they come back.
20 ReplyDepends on were i am mentally myself. If im not in a good headspace my bluntness and biterness comes out so then id say it would be a weakness
If im "fine" then i would say that its ofteb a way of regulating emotion and stress and isn't good nor bad10 Reply
+1 yIf it comes out without control it is neither weakness nor strength. Itâs purely emotion. It can be feeling absolute love or absolute hurt. Itâs feeling.
20 ReplyUmmmm it is would be hard categories, but it's definitely not strength. Well in different context it can be different.
Like when I was kid and I used to play with boys older than me there was me and this other kid of my age. We used to get bullied and I used to laugh it off and he used to cry. That crying was definitely not strength.
I think when you cry you are very venerable and that isn't always weakness but it's definitely not strength.12 ReplyIt's actually neither. It's just a human reaction to grief. Some people cry too much, basically any time they get stressed out because they don't regulate their emotions properly, and that can be annoying.
10 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. I think it's a sign of strength. It shows that you're human and you have feelings. To me is a sign that you can deal with your emotions and allow yourself to feel them with no regrets. That makes you grow.

20 ReplyCrying is just crying. If you cry too much, maybe you should think about the TPO to let it out. Crying not enough... I think bunnies also have tear duct issues.
20 ReplyFor me itâs weakness! Unless is something big. Like someoneâs death!

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yIt's a sign of weakness for men and a good way for women to manipulate others.
Women like to bullshit that they like a man who shows their feelings, they don't. If you cry in front of women you're actively turning them off and driving them into the arms of other men.
As a man you must project strength at all times, otherwise people just treat you like the weak piece of shit they see you as.21 Reply
+1 yCrying is a sign of having emotions. Everybody cries. It does not make you weak or strong or anything whether or not you cry.
It is a human emotional response that is completely natural and actually rids your body of small amounts of stress hormone. It is scientifically proven that crying makes you feel better.10 Reply674 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. I think it's strength..
Because I have reached a point in my life..
Where.. I feel pain..
It hurts in chest...
It grows stronger.
I struggle to breath...
But I cannot cry..10 Reply- 416 opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic.

It depends on the situation why would someone cry if he cry because he's phone screen did broke then that's weakness.
But let's say someone lost his best friend 20 years of friendship that's not weakness in my opinion10 Reply

+1 yEveryone has different emotional levels. Some people it's more extreme then others. I wouldn't use the word weak, I'd say it's more like that person is fragile if he/she cries often. Or something is wrong that caused it.
10 ReplySympathy. Empathy. Frustration. Anger. Helplessness. Frustration. Bereavement. Probably more, but my point is that tears are an emotional response. Concepts like strong and weak are off piste and seem out of place.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yIt depends where I have to fight hard to not break down like that often. I only fail when alone or with my best friend. She always makes it hard for me to hide what I'm feeling. not in a bad way tho. It's due to now safe and understood j feel around her I just can't suppress the need to cry. But when I do cry I end up drained od all energy. More so If trying to prevent them which I always so as I'm embarrassed about cryying.

10 ReplyIt depends. If someone died, then go have a good cry. If they ran out of your favorite yogurt, then you should man up and carry on.
10 ReplyDepends on what you're crying about. I was raised by a mother that saw crying as a weakness and I thought the same until I realized some things you gotta shed tears for
20 ReplyIt's a sign of strenght. The strenght of accepting your vulnerability. Restraining yourself from crying only shows how scared you are to accept your fears.

Death of a loved one, achieving a life dream, breaking down due to mental suffering, neither makes a person weak.
Because Britney Spears can't have access to her money and that is sad... come on!20 ReplyDepends on the situation, if you're in your dad's funeral it might be good to be strong and support your family and put aside your emotions for a moment, but also to show vulnerability to someone you love is a sign of strength
10 ReplyYou're weak in the moment when you're crying but I think it makes you stronger overall because you release that emotion. Since I went through puberty, I can't cry anymore, and I don't really think it's a good thing.
20 ReplyMen can cry too itâs fine. They are humans with feelings not alive robots, and these feelings needs to be out sometimes.
