And when guys (who aren't super attractive) compliment women nowadays, they claim it's "harassment" while also claiming "where have all the good men gone?"

Compliments seem more 'free' from a woman stranger (than a man stranger).

If I'm walking down the street and a woman says "nice boots!", I think I have good style.

If a random guy says the same thing, I interpret it as him saying, "I'm attracted to you. Ball's in your court. Are you attracted to me? Do you think this is harassment? What are you gonna do about it?"

He’s still an idiot for making a comment like that. I have never in my life made a random comment with sexual innuendo in a public place like s train. I have made compliments if she is wearing something that stands out (e. g. flashy boots, hipster ear phones or something). But even then I’m carefully watching her body language, her facial expressions and her tone of voice. If she doesn’t respond I won’t say anything. If she gives a flat “thanks” I might say “no problem” and say nothing else. If she smiles and says an excited “thank you!” then I might continue the conversation.

She was friendly but then when I asked if I she wanted to connect on Instagram she told me she had a boyfriend. I just laughed and said “no problem I meant well.
