I don’t like compliments because sometimes they don’t align with how I see myself.
I was told a lot since 3 years old form close family to speak out loud. I am so quite. My voice is so soft why? Speak strongly. I was even told to practice how to speak strong like a “man”. Not the meow meow voice I have. Buddha Jesus Krishna Allah whoever gave it to me lol. That made me shut out from the world lol I’m sounding too tragic but it did. To the point where teachers were telling my parents that I don’t speak at all. I rarely speak. Or I don’t talk to classmates. That’s because I didn’t know what to do speak or not speak. When I do it’s annoying when I don’t I get questioned why I don’t talk?

And then there I was going into the world 18+ guys and girls ( especially man) telling me how amazing my voice is. So many compliments from guys how my voice sounded like an angel lmao.
It was nice to hear those compliments but they didn’t really aligned with how I thought about myself at times.

I think you should keep your compliments to yourself unless you are dealing with children oh yes shower children with compliments. It will help them so much when they become adults.

Andddd about physical compliments also keep those for your girlfriend boyfriend husband wife or very close friends. We live in a world that random physical compliment can put you into a jail 😂 especially 💁‍♂️

I prefer compliments from women over men. Though I have terrible self esteem either way so it's hard for me to take a compliment without feeling like they're lying or just saying that to be nice. And before anyone downvotes me, hear me out!

If a guy compliments me, I'm not sure of his motivate: is he just being nice, friendly, or interested in me? And even then, I question the sincerity behind it because if I asked a guy, "Do I look fat?" How many will honestly answer yes if I really am?

If a woman compliments me, it's usually sincere. Such as if a random woman compliments my lotion, hair, or outfit, she usually likes it or wants to know where I got it from. She has nothing to gain or hidden agenda...unless she needs a favor from me. I tend to be wary of female coworkers complimenting me because that's usually what they're after. No, I'm not being rude; it's true! Some women know how to use compliments and flattery to get what they want in life.

In retrospect, I'm just wary of compliments in general, lol. That sounds terrible, but it's true. It's like I assume there's a catch if someone's being too nice to me.

Honestly, I don't want to give women compliments. I work out, I stay in shape, I have a unique way of how to dress whether that's cool sneakers, proper Levi's, suede jackets, leather jackets, vintage t's, vintage snapbacks. I'm doing my Masters. I spread positive awareness on politics and religion in a thorough sense. I cook good food. I don't get any recognition from women ever so I don't care about giving it to her.

I've never had a woman to tell me that they did not appreciate a compliment... but, it is all in the delivery... there is a few things to consider before you just say something to someone, especially when/if it could be taken the wrong way

not a good thing to be creepy about ir, or nasty... or tasteless, or rude... or impertinent, lol

best to be genuine about these things rather than tricky and sleazy

Every human being loves to be complimented. We all crave and love that small ego boost to put the pep-in-our-step. Being nice to someone is so much easier than everything thinks.

Giving genuine compliments to people also makes me feel good about myself. It’s always a win win situation.

But women seem to like compliments from men more, cause women love being simped to. If a woman says it to another woman, they know it's typically disingenuous/a lie.

Most women I've known can't handle compliments from guys. Their low self esteem disagrees with their compliment rather than appreciating what the man said. I stay away from those types of women.

The types of women that actually like and appreciate compliments from a man are a lot easier to talk to in my opinion. I love saying compliments and receiving them 😊

I don’t mind both but I’d prefer men because most of the time, I have noticed women tend to compliment other women who are less attractive than them. Women compliments tend to be a little BS especially if they feel threatened by you.

I'd say I prefer compliments from women, as they don't have any romantic intentions most of the time and it is more genuine to me. Since I'm in a relationship I don't really want to be complimented by men, since they often have romantic intentions.
