Why do women smile and wave at guys they don't know?

I get my coffee from this place regularly. Our eyes met and she waved and smiled to at me. When her co-worker was serving me she and I still made eye contact and waved. She smiled and waved first. Then i returned the smile and wave back.

If this is at work, people always try to always smile, wave at someone, keep eye contact, & seem happy even when they feel like absolute shit. It’s just to show good consumer service skills. You can’t be walking around the office always looking like a stick in the mud or you never say hi. People will start talking about you & the boss might give a task that he knows you can’t handle so he can fire & get rid of you. You can’t be looking gloomy or negative all the time. You want to seem kind, friendly & exhibit professionalism as much as you can.

I'm the customer. But she also is treating me a little different as oppose to the rest of the staff there. She even giggled when I asked how she was. Even the time I gave her my loyalty card she giggled

Yeah, that's customer service skills. I always try to keep the customer entertained. Even when I don't like them. It's like a mask I put on at work. I've seen a girl at my job she always say hi too all the customers & seems very friendly, but whenever I say hi to her she just gives me a nasty look & doesn't say nothing. I still say hi I'm a male & they'll fire me over her if I start acting like a dick because she's an affirmative action employee.

And she knows she can be rude to me & get away with it because of her affirmative action. People always try to look happy & jolly at work. Especially the customers. If I'm a dick & piss off the customers they will get rid in a blink of an eye.
