Its called socialising. You know what people did all the time before the pandemic.

I would treat her normally, as if nothing happened. I am shy myself; I understand that she would need to feel 'safe' and that I'm not a threat to her. I would chat normally with her.

You need to wait until he relaxes and takes a break from work. If a woman were to approach me when I'm concentrating, I would react "harshly"; which would scare her off.
What I would do, I would write him a message on a card: "Hey, I like you. I'd love to talk to you socially. -- Noraaaa". Then deliver that card to him. If he "humiliates" you (by reading the card out publically to everyone) then he is not worth your time. I am quite geeky, and I don't have much experience in picking up women.
