Anyone here that doesn't agree with the sexist nature of revealing/provocative clothing is either overthinking or isn't thinking at all lol. For example, I've heard of many women complain about men being allowed to be shirtless and many men complain about how women can show more and wear tighter clothing down below (as if penises are meant to remain hidden).
*Bottom line: both complaints are legit and either case is wrong. Religion requires both genders to not dress revealing. Men aren't supposed to be shirtless and women aren't supposed dress "tight".
No because everyone can wear whatever they want. There might be some sexist people forcing their opinion on others or since sexist laws in other countries but I'm most Western parts everyone can wear you the beach what they want
You have the choice to wear what you want to wear. I have the choice to wear a bikini bottom but girls would look at me differently and would not be attracted. So , if a Girl wears swimming trunks then us guys would think they are still attractive no doubt. In my opinion women are the sexist ones in this case... prove me wrong. Lol
It's not sexist. Its like saying its sexist for a guy to have a dick and a woman to have a vagina. The swimsuits are based around the different bodies. Women require a bikini top because it works like a bra to provide support. This question is stupid.

I'm not talking about requiring a top, but how the fabric of top and bottom combined often is less than the fabric of just the guy's shorts
Lol. Have you seen the amount of variety for mens wear? Many men avoid the banana hammock swim wear because it makes everyone uncomfortable at the beach. Also there's nothing stopping women from wearing swim trunks and some women's designer swimwear has way more fabric. And women have a large variety of swim wear as well, it's not always the bikini.
It was a crime for men to be at the beach with a bare chest until we fought that battle in court and won in the 1930s. At that point ot was asked if it should also apply to women and the majority of women said no. So the law turned gendered.
Um how is women choosing to wear less clothes and men choosing more sexist? Men dont choose women's outfits and women dont choose mens? Women could choose more modest swimwear but they dont, it is available. Full one piece anyone? As well as men can choose bikini bottoms but they aren't popular.
Anyone who said sexist is an idiot. Both men and women can wear whatever the f they want. The fact of the matter is most men like to see a lot of skin in something like a bikini. And from what I've heard, most women don't like to see men in bikinis. That's just a fact, afik.
Yes, but its sexism by necessity. Women have more to cover up than men. They also have more to support. I don't have breasts that require holding. Women do. And you can find a men's bottom to match almost any woman's bottom. There are things called "banana hammocks" and men do wear them. Just like women, there's a certain thresh hold of raw sex appeal that one must have to pull off that look successfully.
No one makes the girls put it on. It's completely voluntary. If one doesn't like it then wear shorts and a shirt. Or get a Muslim bathing suit. It's her choice how much skin she wants to show.
no man or court of men is forcing women to wear the skimpy suits they choose. There are full coverage options available for them. In case this is weird, and you're one of those guys with crazy fetishes about bodies, trying to say men and women both have bodies so they should wear things that look exactly the same, biology would tend to slap you in the face and point out that those bodies are different. You're welcome.
It's a different style, but I don't think it's sexist. I like wearing bikinis to the beach. If I wanted to wear shorts and a top I would, but I prefer the bikini (usually)
Nothing is stopping a woman from wearing shorts on a beach, just saying. Just like nothing is stopping a guy from choosing to wear a bikini. It's really not sexist, it's just the norm or expectations from the sexes and obviously sexualization of the body
And you also have the choice to wear something other than a bikini. Sexist is for example in beach volleyball where the rules say women's clothes can only cover x% of the bum. But that's another story, if you wanna go with shorts to the beach then that's up to you

How would that be sexist? It’s practically the same reasons as the gender differences in typical underwear.
You're right, it's basically just the same as underwear, which is what swimsuits basically are

"Sexist but also sexy"
The two in the same sentence makes me laugh hard.
It does sound funny, yes

The only difference is that it covers the woman’s chest area and she usually shows more of her legs.
Is it sexist? Maybe, but both encourage men and women to look good in their swimsuit. I guess it goes both ways.
It was a crime for men to be at the beach with a bare chest until we fought that battle in court and won in the 1930s. At that point ot was asked if it should also apply to women and the majority of women said no. So the law turned gendered.

Not sexist. Men and women have different bodies. That’s a fact of nature, not something made up by society.
But coverage is different from the bodies themselves
Both genders are half-naked in swimwear…just in different ways. I wouldn’t say that one gender has more coverage than the other.
That's a good point, maybe we girls show our hips and butts because we're expected to keep our chests partly covered
Back to the roots, I say!
@DryGermanGuy Rather extreme. But why not top and bottom coverage for both?
@Mac-One that's partly what I mean. Or at least equal coverage on bottom
Are you against guys having top or full torso coverage, why or why not?
@Mac-One not against either
Nothing sexist about it.
Both men and women have the option to wear a weatsuit, with different levels of lenght.
And women also have one piece bathing suits.
Guys have boxers and tshirts.
On look at instagram and you can see most of the women there would want to wear even less than a thong, if insta would allow it.
For that sweet attention nectar of course.
So no, not sexist at all.
Yes, but its sexism by necessity. Women have more to cover up than men. They also have more to support. I don't have breasts that require holding. Women do. That's what I would think

Not saying they should wear the same, no
It's a different style, but I don't think it's sexist. I like wearing bikinis to the beach. If I wanted to wear shorts and a top I would, but I prefer the bikini (usually)
well the fact that men and women are held to different standards of modesty is questionable to say the least...
Nothing is stopping a woman from wearing shorts on a beach, just saying. Just like nothing is stopping a guy from choosing to wear a bikini. It's really not sexist, it's just the norm or expectations from the sexes and obviously sexualization of the body
In my opinion, it is really obvious they are. The same is not expected from girls and guys
Yeah but also in some guys swimsuits you can basically see the shape of the dick
@willyjones True but you have also choice to wear the one of the question
Yes, the difference seems really obvious. But it still is sexy, in my opinion.
Yeah, girls have other options, I'm talking about the general trend
And you also have the choice to wear something other than a bikini. Sexist is for example in beach volleyball where the rules say women's clothes can only cover x% of the bum. But that's another story, if you wanna go with shorts to the beach then that's up to you
@Layafell that makes sense. Yeah the volleyball thing was really sexist
No it’s not sexist, it’s simply down social and moral standards.
it is not sexist though.
But maybe those standards are sexist?
Okay so , say your 12 year old sister, daughter and a beach of 55yr old guys.
That’s fine for you, her just wearing bikini bottoms.
Noooo, I mean, the standard that women dress skimpier
