How would you react if your child got bullied at school?

After watching the Adam project on Netflix I just can't think of sending any kid to public schools. Adams mother blamed her son son for being bullied by the stronger boys.

The modern school system is so corrupt that they expel kids for being victims of bullying. After watching this film on Netflix I saw how unsupportive the kids parents were if their kid getting bullied at school. Especially the mother of the child. Isn't a mother supposed to have her child's back?

That is why we do homeschooling

Id be angry with the school for unfairly expelling a victim of bullying

Be angry with the kid for being bullied by the other boys at school

American mother's aren't very supportive of their sons anymore though

I didn’t know anything like that would go on in schools here.
I think if it was my kid I would look around for a school that doesn’t allow such things to happen. Either look around online for forums or call them up and tell them your concerns before enrolling them there. No way I would even want my kid to stay in such an environment

I am not sure what I would do because if I did complain to the school they would not do anything and it would be worse for my kid. Maybe I would get him into martial arts or weight training which is what I did.

I would certainly not be happy if my child was bullied and then expelled. I would be looking for other schooling options at that point if I couldn't find a resolution.

My nephew is turning four and will soon be going to kindergarten. I'm just worried of the bullying and the kid getting expelled from school because people call evil good and call good evil

@tiger31 I think all you really can do in the beginning is make sure that parents and family are comfortable with the school and teacher. You can't automatically assume it will happen.

Usually, when entering school for the first time, there are days the school provides for incoming students/families to come and meet faculty and staff. I would take advantage of those things.

Lots allow access to the teacher the student will have. That is a good time to get a feel for the teacher and how he/she plans to run the classroom. They are there to answer questions, bullying being one of them.

Most schools have a policy as well. I would find out what it is. That is really all you can do. Now, if it happens, then that is another issue.

The American School syyis messed up. It's not like how it used to be when we were still at school. the times has changed. And everything is just worse. My older cousins are still in elementary school and they get bullied on the school bus , it's a wonder that the driver is a reasonable man not side with the victims.. the school system are too lazy to control the bullies so now they expel the victims instead who is much easier.

I'm really worried about the fact if his mother (my sister) sending him to school I've spoken to her about homeschooling.

I was fortunate enough to go to middle and high schools that had a zero tolerance policy for bullying. It was easy for both teachers and students to pick them out early in the school year. It was best to just avoid them. There was always safety in numbers too since bullies weren’t usually ones to pick on two or more.

I would not allow any child of mine to get near a public school in the US for reasons I won't get into that would transform this into a political post.

My suggestion is to research private schools and interview the leadership there, study online reviews and talk to some of the parents there.

I have a son and a daughter and they both go to a charter school. I really love the staff there and the way they handle education by not just moving them up grades but even within their grade level they will cater lessons to the kids who show mastery of a subject.

Our son (9, 3rd grade) is a bit on the shy and nerdy side. He reads at a high school level and his math is around a 5th grade level so he would be ripe for it.

Our daughter (7, 1st grade) is a social butterfly and makes friends with everyone. This leaves her open to bullying of a different kind where it is more behind her back in gossip.

As for bullying, there have been situations where kids don't get along but no true bullying thankfully for either of them.

When I was in school I never really saw bullying but I'm sure it may have happened. I went to school surrounded by corn fields so there was not much to do out there lol

Well, as likely the youngest and most recently in high school (as in this time last year, I was in high school) I would say that the zero tolerance for bullying has really helped reduce the amount of bullying. I’m surprised that @tiger31 believes that it’s easier for girls than it is for boys… how exactly does he know this? From his years of being a skinny prepubescent girl, then finally getting HIS period in 6th grade math class? Girls can be incredibly cruel to especially late bloomers, and unattractive girls. Remember that school movie “Mean Boys” NO! Because the movie was called “Mean Girls” for a reason, everyone with a vagina who went to school remembers exactly who the mean girls were, and if you don’t remember… maybe it was you? “Never presume you have it worse than others! Until you have lived a day in their skin, you have no idea how badly someone else has it, nor what they are going through, compared to you” - 20th Century aphorism
But to be fair, my children will NEVER see the inside of an American public school. I went to an English public elementary school for a year, before moving back to the states and attending an American elementary school, and the first quarter of middle school, then I transferred to the private school, all the kids in my neighborhood went to, I was amazed at just how much nicer everyone was, and how much cleaner it was, how better equipped the library, the computer lab, even the gym! But I was especially amazed with how much better the education was! How every teacher was more than happy to stay an hour late to help a struggling student who really wanted to learn!

The kids parents need to talk to the school counselor, who needs to bring the bully inn the office and tell them to stop. Or the kid needs to be taught to stand up for himself and kick the bully's ass.
