Second, I find it funny that one women said women don't try to shame women who cover up more, yet there's been many who have replied I'm just jealous, have low self-esteem or old and ugly, etc., etc So then aren't they doing just that? There can be a multitude of reasons.

if it’s this platform, I would take it with a pink of salt if it’s a pink posting exposing photos, especially if it’s an anon.

There will be genuine girls doing it.

The reasons as I said will be numerous, from coping with previous abuse and trauma (it’s a vicious circle which unless you have dealt with it is hard to understand).

to body positivity issues, say from weight loss or working hard at the gym etc, not actually being able to show off what they have actually accomplished, they then post photos with face hidden on a random internet site and have others saying how hot they look.

I know a girl that does it, as where she lives her family would kick her out for even a simple bikini photograph, culture etc.

A good friend had boiling water spilled on her as a child, it took about 6 years for her to be comfortable with going fully naked on the beach. Part of that process included her posting risqué and topless photos, some public, some shared privately with strangers.

Culture and backgrounds of people definitely play a part, for example the ‘half naked’ comment, on here I’ve seen that used to shame someone wearing a short skirt and a top, oh and those dreaded tattoos, all that brings out the righteous to condemn the girl for showing leg about the knee and her bare shoulders.

Yes some do it for attention, however it’s important to understand the reason behind that attention may actually be fairly dark, a coping strategy from historical abuse, from bullying and a bunch of other reasons.

Some will also do it for the money, in which case good on them, if it helps pay the bills, you make that cash work for you great.

As the weather warms up here and the nights lighten, I will no doubt go in to Newcastle for a night out, where girls have always pretty much worn belts for skirts, as it’s part of the fun and a way to relax and unwind from a week of working.

I usually never like to touch bases on this topic cause it's pretty controversial. But in all honesty it all boils down to one simple answer; they love the validation.
I don't care how many of them use that same line of "i do it for myself" because the thing is this, if you're a straight woman, you don't really care to have other women see you naked. As women, we all have the same thing so to impress one another is not something we'd necessarily just go out of our way to do.
As a woman myself with different social medias, I myself use to post some pictures that you would consider "hot", and yes when I did it made me feel good, but in all honesty, when I posted it, I honestly wanted the guys to see it because I use to crave validation from men.
I think as women, a lot of us have gotten so caught up in this whole "strong, independent woman who can be happy all by herself" thing and it makes us in denial and even contradicting in a lot of areas. Obviously all women have their own reasons for posting Bikini pics on Insta timelines, or on any social media site, including GaG. Yes, sometimes it’s purely vanity, sometimes it’s an attempt at self promotion, and sometimes it is completely innocent. Maybe a friend died, and that is the last picture you had together. Some do it to record memories. Remember the beach. Remember what they looked like on the beach and what their friends looked like, since we can often lose some of our fondest memories with the erosion of time.

Yes, there are other ways to be proud of your body. There's also other ways for someone to be proud of a piece of art they made, or their pet. But they can choose to post it online to show they're proud, and that's one perfectly fine way out of many. That's not sending a bad message to other artists or pet owners, is it?

Also, it doesn't just have to be they're proud of it either. That's just one other reason it could be. And again I don't think it being one of several alternatives for showing you're proud means it suddenly becomes disingenuous to use for that purpose. That just doesn't make sense.

Some of us STRUGGLE with body image and when we do have a good day we want to share it, not to be objectified, but to celebrate a good day in our mental struggles.

Yes, there are some women who absolutely do it for the sexual attention and good on them if they feel comfortable with it. Yes, I realize this also can cause confusion for those who can't tell the difference between the two reasons.

It’s typical female thinking because most women tend to act on how they feel, unless you’re one of those logical types of girls (such as my current girlfriend).

Men must think in terms of emotion or how one would feel in that situation to understand women’s behaviors and women must think in logical terms to understand men’s behaviors.

A woman generally cannot sleep around without losing dating options and reputation if she is known to be a slut or whore. My theory is that women post or dress provocatively because the attention validates their insecurities and egos by saying “that’s right, I can get any man” or “I still got it.”

Ironically, I noticed women tend to do this more (in many cases very aggressively) to get attention from men while dating a man - aka teasers or attention whores. When diving deep into the process, the reality is that even the average looking girl has options and can get laid with a snap of her fingers, but getting men to commit is the challenge for most women.

How a woman uses that power is what tells me what kind of person she is and whether I should cut her off, ONS, or girlfriend material. Once a girl teases me, she’s cut off immediately or I give her living hell to annoy her back.

The problem with today’s society is that weak women and weak men have fallen for the BS narrative of women being both superior and victims (which makes zero sense). As a martial artist and hockey athlete, I am proud of my muscle development as well but I don't need to go prancing around half naked online in order to receive compliments from strangers. Dressing nicely is all I need to do. I know what's underneath the clothes and the world doesn't need to see it.

I don't think that the reason women do this is all about attention, buy rather there's more going on under the service. I think woman want to feel wanted, they want confirmation that others find them beautiful and they seek validation from men. Nowadays this type of behavior is seen more and more. Women maybe like the way it feels when they're able to strip down and share the physical side of themselves.

It might seem odd but I like when things are left to my imagination. If I see a pictures of a woman showing all her goods on the internet I'm bored and less likely to ask her on a date. I think it depends on what is 'normal' in your friend group/ media feed/ geographic location etc.

Girls near beach towns are probably much more used to bikini photos being the norms than say, someone from Vermont where it's winter for 6 months of the year.

I, myself see nothing wrong with it, as long as they aren't doing it on an app that's designed for children, and promote they do it as well. Some women have poor body image and confidence, so they want to get validation, which isn't the best way, but if they're grown adults, they can do it.
