For reading this I present to you the "strong, independent woman" above's insta pics who has her own bikini line in Miami.

"They want to pick and select what traits of traditionalism"
This ^ is very true. Women want equality when it benefits them, but tradition when that benefits them. Such hypocrites.
I would say they TRY to control men, but they don't WANT to control men (specifically their man). Women will test you, and if you pass these tests then they will increase their femininity by submitting to you to a greater degree. Just like children like boundaries, and thrive within them, you need to set what you're willing to accept and enforce it. If you show yourself capable and dominant in this way, nearly every woman will trust you and submit to your future leadership. If you're not comfortable leading (or believe the bs about a "partnership") then you'll always be at risk for your girl leaving you, or cheating on you.
Have your own opinions- don't go along with hers because you think it's what she wants to hear- many guys in the friendzone experience the repercussions of this all to well. "I think we're better as friends," while he responds, "yea, I agree." No; know what you want and be willing to say it. This doesn't mean every woman will want you, but the ones who do will respect you.
When a woman disrespects you, they're often testing you. When she insults you, belittles you, or otherwise acts like a brat how do you react? Women are emotional; so, responding emotionally is just adding fuel to a fire. If a woman does something like this you can "pass the test," by not letting one of these things slide, and in a firm way telling her it's not acceptable. Example: say your new girlfriend has a lot of guy friends, including guys she's slept with. If you're uncomfortable with this (as you should be) tell her so, AND tell her that you won't tolerate it. She can choose to call you a controlling jerk and run off, or she can accommodate your wish. Either way you win.
Women want strong men to depend on- if you don't show yourself to be strong and confident in what you want, how can she trust you to protect her, and choose what's best for you if the relationship becomes a family?
