My friend rubs her male attention in my face?

My friend and I are both considered pretty, and we both get attention not that it even matters. I don’t consider looks to be everything. But we went out for my birthday dinner last year, and my friend looked particularly beautiful and her outfit was stunning. A waiter came up to her and told her she was the most beautiful girl there. I was happy for her because she did look stunning. Well when we got home, she tried rubbing it in my face, going “I was the most beautiful girl there, and you weren’t. I was prettier than you.” And even months later, she brings up the same compliment in conversation to rub in my face. Am I right to be upset at her?

Definitely cause not only is she a terrible friend for tryna gloat that she essentially outshined you on your bday (I don't know if she rlly did but she seems to think so) but she also seems jealous or overly competitive with you with looks and male attention. Just seems toxic. You don’t tell a friend that you’re prettier than them, you hype both of you guys up or even just them as pretty

Thanks. Her outfit was nicer than mine and she looked GREAT in it, and I’m happy for how beautiful she looked. But yeah I’m getting competitive vibes too which I don’t get because we’re both cute, I don’t know if I should keep the friendship but there’s a lot of history there xx

I think you should be upset. The first couple times, ok yeah, it was cute. This seems more like some sort stupid 1up game. I think next time you should speak up, not for the sake of speaking up but for the sake of saving her from breaking her own arm patting herself on the back, make her think twice before bragging likewise teaching her how to take a compliment. Let her know she also proved that it's possible to polish a turd that night too, lol!

From what if sounds, it seems like she doesn't get as much male attention as she makes it seem considering she hasn't brought up another one since then, she keeps mentioning the same one, let her have that win, it's all she copes lol

Yeah it’s weird, she’s always telling me how much male attention she gets which I don’t usually have a problem with. It’s when she tries to put me down is the problem. Thanks

You’re right to be upset. Sounds like she’s competitive and jealous. Otherwise she would just gracefully accept the compliment and not compare you to her. I would say “is a compliment that much to you that you have to bring it up even months later”? That is, if you want to keep the friendship.

Thanks! I don’t actually know anymore if I want to keep the friendship. I feel some resentment towards her for trying to make me feel bad about myself.
