What was I supposed to do?

Question

I was walking late in the evening in my neighborhood, just a late walk before sleep.

Then this girl in front of me by like 20 meters dropped some ID on the ground, I ran to pick it up and give it to her, I started calling for her, she was walking faster but I didn't know what to do, I started running to her and caught up to her and touched her shoulder to give her the ID. She pepper sprayed me, it hurt so much and then she kicked me in the balls twice very fast (she was wearing heels wtf) and ran away. I was hurting so much, the walk home was so painful. I live in a very safe neighborhood, why would she do that? What was I supposed to do? Not give her the ID? I still have it now, it was her health card. Is that normal behavior, even in a safe neighborhood? My balls are still sore now almost 24 hours after :(

Not much else you were supposed to do, but maybe you could’ve gone a different way about it…. I mean, don’t run at her and don’t be like, “HEY!”

I’m not saying you’re wrong for picking it up and wanting to give it to her, but even in a safe neighborhood, women are constantly on the lookout and wanting to keep themselves safe from anyone. Who knows, a stranger saying that she dropped her ID could’ve been a scheme to hurt her? It’s happened before.

It could’ve played out in many different ways. Some people are hesitant to even be near anyone at night. Maybe if you yelled, “Hey, you dropped your ID,” that would get her attention and she could walk back and grab it while you walk away. Or, say she dropped it and you grab it and stay put. Or, you say she dropped it and bring it to her slowly. I mean, it’s a delicate situation, because both parties are unpredictable.

I think you should go the police to return the ID, she could need it.

You did the right thing but you know as girls, we are often on the lookout when walking on the street, especially when a guy is following us. You probably shouldn't have touch her from her back but went in front of her.
But to be honest it sounds a bit excessive to pepper sprayed and kick someone so fast. She probably has alrealdy been assaulted before.

This is why you just don't help women any more. It's not worth it. There is no value in it, and you end up with what happened to you.. You get assaulted.. You're lucky she didn't accuse you of rape or anything.

My advice to all men, stop interacting with women unless you absolutely have to. Let them suffer the consequences of their histeria.

Come now mate, in what world is running after her and grabbing her shoulder a better approach than "Hey! Excuse me I think you dropped your ID!"?

As men we can typically be heard and have our words understood at a distance of up to 200m. Or say 600 feet. You grabbing onto her before speaking is going to freak out anyone.

Your best bet in the future is to take the ID and turn it into a police officer. That way you don’t freak her out, and you don’t get pepper sprayed, or kicked (or worse). I hate to say it, but we are conditioned to not trust anyone when we are by ourselves.

You have her ID. Report her to the police for assault - she physically hurt and humiliated you without reasonable belief - she deserves to have her life ruined.
