Why do girls try to make a guy jealous?

Is it because you are trying to get back at him? Or to show him you don’t like him? Or what else are the reasons a girl would try to get a guy jealous?

Usually they do when they think they aren't getting enough attention or taken for granted so they try to make their men jealous and make them think they have to put more effort or just remind them that they have options.

Probably because she likes him, but he doesn't make any move or shows any emotions of attraction so by making him jealous girls think that if he is interested he will do something.

@PortraitOfTerd It's frustrating for a girl. Personally I will be both sad and angry if a guy I like, liked me back but showed no emotion or any sights of attraction.
