So I'm gonna try to keep from rambling. I'm trying to figure out mixed signals from my ex.

We dated a while then broke off after covid (college freshman im east coast she's west coast). While in person we're still very good friends and I realize I'm still into her, I ask her and she says she's not (if she is she's just desperate) but she talks to me about all her problems (w/ men as well), I do things for her a boyfriend would and a couple days ago we're cuddling, holding hands etc. for a night. Then she goes home. Just doesn't feel right.

Looks like as if you are indeed a substitute guy that she can confide in. Take it as a compliment because that means that she trusts you.

Now, you state that "... we're cuddling, holding hands etc. for a night." If nothing happened during that night besides cuddling and holding hands, then you are just an emotional substitute.

My opinion is that you should sever the ties and keep your relation strictly on a platonic basis without getting emotionally involved. It just doesn't do you good because you know that cannot be anything serious on the long run and you are only harming your feelings if you state that you are still into her.
