Have I failed as a man if I receive reassurance from a woman?

Have I failed as a man if I receive reassurance from a woman?
For the most part, I can have casual conversations with people.

There are just moments in life when I feel that I have failed to give a proper response or reaction to others.

For example, when someone says a joke or laughs at me, you're usually supposed to "laugh in response" or say something funny back, in order to show that you support the person and to build good rapport/chemistry.

But sometimes, I just don't find the joke funny or can't seem to laugh in response, so people feel like they have to reassure me because maybe they think I am insecure or am hurt by their remarks. Sometimes, I am reassured even by women I like.

I feel that I have failed as a man if women have to reassure me that "it's alright"

Sometimes, I want to pretend to laugh or fake a laugh, but it's just so hard.
