Preparing for a baby?

At what point do most people start buying things for their baby? I find out the gender next week and I’ll be 4 months then. we’re team boy, but if it’s a girl I’ll still be excited and her things will be cuter!
I’ve been feeling stressed because we haven’t started getting clothes, or furniture.
the only items I have so far are a few freebie sample bags with wipes, bottles and diaper cream mostly.
this is the first baby for both of us help

habe a baby shower very soon after you fimd out the sex. then buy what ever wasn't gifted to you asap. you are not going to want to be shopping and preparing at 8 months
