How did you get this idea that we are “terrified”? I start up conversations with people all the time if I’m interested. If I don’t, it’s not because I’m terrified but because I don’t care enough to start up a convo with them.

Well if you actually read the whole title, it says "most women", not "all women".

And I got the idea from observing lots of women say that.

More than I can count for not wanting to message, approach, or otherwise start a conversation, 80% more than those who are fine with it.

I don't know, I'm not exactly terrified but neither am I particularly keen on initiating conversations with strangers in general. I guess it can be scary in case he turns out to be a creep or a stalker.

According to most women, all guys are creeps just for having sex drives (unless he's a 10 to them). And anyone with a social media account is effectively a stalker, which is most people at this point.

My answer: It can be scary, and talking to strangers in general isn't something I'm keen on personally.

Because it does not answer what you think will happen to you thats negative, or why you think it's likely enough to be worried about, or why you react to minor risk that way.

Men have all sorts of risks when we do things, but few of us are worried about most of them.

Women seem to have a higher stake in sociological risk aversion. This shows in fear of initiating conversations with someone they like, quitting hobbies if the community has a percentage of toxic people, and other aspects of socializing.

These are things most men tend to ignore, and I don't really want to call it bravery, because it just makes it sound like the world is more dangerous than it is. But whatever people want to call it, why are so many women so.. "wimpy" I guess? I don't mean literally that, but I can't think of another term for this sort of paranoia in this case.

For example, if a woman acts creepy or acts like a stalker to me, I just don't find that intimidating. Offputting maybe for the creepy part, but scary? pff.

Why do you find it scary?

I live in a fairly safe country so, again, I'm not exactly terrified of it nor do I find it particularly scary. But if a man turns out to be creepy, it's not something I take lightly, simply because of the fact that I've heard enough horrifying stories and read enough horrible statistics about stalkers, rapists and murderers. You might not find it scary because statistically it's less likely that a woman is going to hurt you physically or take advantage of you in some way. And you are more likely, as a man, to have the upper hand if a physical altercation were to happen between you and another woman.

Would you feel equally safe if a creepy guy started stalking you or behaving weird towards you?

Then I guess it also boils down to the fact that, for me personally, I simply don't need to initiate contact. With strangers, specifically. I have my friends, my family, my boyfriend, my co-workers. I don't exactly need to go out of my way to meet new men, or new people in general. And when I was single, I had no problem initiating contact with men through dating apps. I don't consider that scary or terrifying.

Statistically it is far more likely a woman will hurt me, but the point is that I remain optimistic, positive, and do not go around thinking the worst will happen from a social interaction, or really from much else.

According to the only one thats verifiable, personal experience.

People like to discredit that, but thats dumb, because every statistic is just the personal experience of anyone doing a study, and therfor the only statistics that hold any value are one's you conducted yourself.

Everything else is just blindy believing a paper author, and honestly most lf those papers reveal methodologies that aren't sound, or outright misinterpret or misrepresent data, or are just straight up lies.
