My view on this is.
never really approach a girl who is on her own, it’s just a bit crap to do.
When she is with friends, in a group, then approach her.
The alone bit, does change if you can flirt at a distance and she engages with long distance non verbal chat.
i often spend time at a local coffee shop doing some work, and you see it all the time a girl working on her laptop etc, and over the course of an hour, she likely gets hit on 8 times or more.
Also culture, society a person lives in does make a difference towards expectations etc, I know here in North East England, it’s always been fairly common for girls to chat up guys, especially on nights out.

The widest-reaching study of its kind at the time indicated that less than 14% of women had ever asked a guy out and a negligible percent practice it as a norm. Let’s see how these results compare.
Spoiler alert, online every woman is the exception to every rule. Ell oh ell!
No! Not unless you see me looking at you from across the room and when you smile, I smile right back at you!
I don't mind guys approaching me, I just don't like getting sexual comments or getting groped in the gym

If you approach we're going to need a good conversation because I don't give my social media out to anyone just like that. I'd be down approaching the guy. Then it's at my pace.
