Was this behavior inappropriate?

I was remembering my junior year in high school. I had told a friend of mine that I had a crush on the campus security guard. At that time I was about 15 and the campus security was about 28. Anyways, I would tell her and she'd tell me she was going to tell him. I always thought she was joking. She would also tell me he would say the feeling was mutual 😂💀. One day, out of the nowhere I get a friend request from him on Facebook. It was his actual profile and everything. Made me realize my friend wasn't joking.
Was this behavior inappropriate?
