My neighbour hates me because I don't speak to everyone and she's always making comments?

I have tried to say hi and smile once and she's given me a death stare. I work long hours. I am quite a shy person so when someone speaks to me I do speak to them but im not one to start a conversation

Like one time this particular neighbour was standing with other neighbours talking and I had just pulled up in my car and I heard her angrily say "she's going to stay in her car until we go back inside "

While this is true because I'm shy and they will just stare. How do I get her off my back? Like everytime I walk past she will stare me down

Different people have different love languages. Some people are naturally more gossipy and extroverted. If they aren't emotionally mature, they often think everyone should be this way. I'm extroverted but I understand that people are introverted for a host of reasons. I tend to put myself in other people's shoes as a reflex action from years of working with clients in a therapeutic setting. Some people aren't really good at this, especially when you couple the lack of maturity with the ideology that "neighbours should be friendly" mindset, that extroverted personality types possess as a default setting.
It can be seen as a sign of aggression of hate when you're not.

So what do I do in this case?

All you can do is be you. Here's a great idea (although a bit extreme), but will be very personable and received well... Is to post a hand written letter explaining how you feel and the stresses of your job and how you think she's a wonderful person and would hate to be a bad neighbor blah blah.

Her type of personality will appreciate the sentiment, the strategical benefits for you would be essentially, putting the ball in her court. This will cause her to edit her behaviour to make this relationship work, as opposed to the pressure being on your shoulders.

I call it, "the charm offensive" :)

It would be nicer if neighbours understand each other.

Mine don't as well... a majority of them, that is.
