It depends on where you live. Everyone I know of has been able to raise their families fine on less than 35,000 annually. This is for 1-4 kids, I don't know any family bigger. If you live on a relatively cheap area, you could possibly raise a family on a solo income of 25k-30k. You could possibly raise a family on cheaper but it would be more difficult. You would probably have to make upwards of 84k to live in a state like California, more comfortably if you make above 100,000.
Depends on where you live. You can probably get away with a household income of 60k in the Midwest and not suffer, but that’s not ideal. Anywhere else it’s going to be closer to 100k if you’re raising a family and raising them well.
I heard a bank guy on the radio yesterday he said that you need to make 135K to buy a house in my areaa.
Sole income in middle America, not NY, NJ, MA, CA, then 100,000.

There are families that travel the world in a bus, scraping by. The ones I have seen seem happy and have valuable worldly experience the rest of us might never get. Money isn’t everything. Living is.
That would depend on where he lives and the size of his family. If he lives in California, NYC, the northeast or Hawaii, he needs a lot of money to support a family. Those states are very expensive to live in.
