Do you expect to be greeted at a restaurant?

Today I went to a burger joint and wanted to place an order, but for some reason the kid didn't want to greet me and kept looking down at his computer screen. Thought maybe he was busy placing another order so I didn't say anything. Then this girl who kept standing in front of the register who I already asked if she placed an order was like why don't you just say you want to place an order? I didn't say anything to her, but I mean I expect to be acknowledged when I walk up to the counter Is that too much to ask?

With a warm welcome, yes. When I used to waitress back in the day, I remember I was told by management not to greet my guests like “welcome to [place name of restaurant here]” just because the hosts already did that part. It’s just poor customer service not too. You should never have your back to a guest either.. I understand people have bad days but not cool if they always a bad attitude.. it’s toxic to the environment.. effects their spirit, their money, the business..

I’ve also had guests tell me how rude the hosts were and sometimes they would take it out on me.

They create the first impression.

I’m sorry you were treated this way. Ps: usually hosts stands only have computers for their floor plan and their servers assigned to sections, records of walk-ins and reservations

Lol They just lacked proper training I think. After that I got a burger with pickles when I stated no pickles.
